I recently became familiar with the idea of juice fasting and at the time was not unfamiliar with green juicing and in fact a few years ago I embraced the raw food lifestyle and juicing was a large part of that diet. I even went so far as to buy a juicer!
Unfortunately like most good intentions I gradually fell off this eating style and reverted back to the good old standard American diet (SAD). It is sad for more reasons than one.
First of all I put on some weight, I didn't feel very good and I found after a while not only was I not sleeping very well but I seemed to be tired all the time. Naps in the afternoon were not uncommon on the weekends. I even started having panic/anxiety attacks. This all led me to my doctor who told me I had high blood pressure, my cholesterol levels were also high and I need to do something about all of these issues.
Well I went on some blood pressure medication. The first one I tried was an ace inhibitor. Not only did my blood pressure not go down, but after five weeks of being on the medication I had severe pain in my neck in shoulders. It felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly. So next I went on something called water pills. Those also didn't help to lower my blood pressure and worst of all I started gaining weight! Not a particularly good idea when I was trying to reduce my blood pressure!
So to make a long story short, I've decided I'm going to give this program a real try. Thirty days! Only one month! I should be able to follow this program for one month. After all Joe and Phil in the movie Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead followed the program for much longer.
