Acupuncture For Migraines And Headaches

by AlanJansson

Find out why acupuncture treatments for migraines and other headaches are more effective than pills and shots.

Many migraine sufferers are afraid of the potentially horrific side effects of strong pain medication. Acupuncture is a proven alternative method for the treatment of migraines and other headaches. It is based on restoring balance and flow of positive energy - the “Qi”.If you have ever experienced migraine headaches, you’re probably all too familiar with the pounding and throbbing pain in temples and neck, or even behind your eyes. Loud noises and bright lights feel like torture to you. You’re sick to your stomach, and you’d give anything for a bit of relief.

What Causes Migraine Headaches?

There are many possible catalysts for the onset of your suffering
  • Diet. People report red wine, chocolate, nuts, citrus fruit, fatty foods, monosodium glutamate, or chemicals found in cheese, seafood, and bananas as the main culprits of their migraine attacks.
  • Weather. Changes in weather or climate are often suspected. However, recent studies show that the weather should be blamed in only 3% percent of all cases.
  • Stress. Insufficient sleep, anger, worry, and other stress situations may cause an attack. Sometimes, however, the body waits until we come out of our stress and begin to relax...then it hits.
  • Hormonal changes in women, often in connection with their monthly cycle.

What about other headaches?

Some may be connected to flus, viruses, or neck problems, others result from an imbalanced lifestyle of persons with a constitutional tendency to suffer headaches.

All these headache conditions can be successfully treated with acupuncture. I use a particular form of acupuncture known as Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. It is a very gentle form that was refined and developed in Japan from the traditional Chinese style of acupuncture.  Currently, I would say that I am treating anywhere between 10 and 12 people a week for headaches, including migraine headaches.

How Can Japanese Acupuncture Help With Migraines And Other Headaches?

If you take pain medication, you treat only the symptoms of your illness.

Japanese acupuncture techniques, however, address the cause of your suffering.

When you experience migraines or other headaches, it means that there is excess energy in your head. We look to balance this energy toward deficient areas of your body, relieve the tension in your head, and restore the harmony in your overall energy flow.

I invite you to join me for a few minutes by watching the video below. I talk about my experience with treating all forms of headaches (including migraines) with the gentle methods of Japanese acupuncture.
