An Australian Marketplace Called RedBubble

by Jo_Murphy

The global online marketplace Red Bubble caters for artists by providing a space where they can upload their art, which is transposed into high-quality merchandise.

Redbubble is a global online marketplace for print-on-demand products based on user-submitted artwork. The company was founded in 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. and also maintains offices in San Francisco and Berlin. This is an explanation of how niche marketing on RedBubble works. Artists need a proficient working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or another editing software. A sense of humour and a wellspring of creative ideas is essential. The website offers a wide variety of products that range from stickers through an artistic range of stationary, prints through to high quality clothing and haberdashery.

Setting up a Store Front

Tracking the setup of a store front called True Gusto

Shop FrontThis is a store front and was very easy to make. To get started it is essential to read how image sizing works. RedBubble provides tutorials on every aspect of artwork creation, but it is expected that you are able to manipulate images to make sure they are the correct size and weight.

The first image you will upload will be your banner. This let's people know the name of your store. Mine is True Gusto, which is the same as my Zazzle storefront. If you are trying to establish a niche market, consistency of message and image is essential.

Next, you will need to create a bio. This is short and to the point. It introduces you and your products. I introduce myself as a Grey Nomad and then both my travel articles and some of the products I sell work this theme. Here is an example of working the theme of GN.

Grey Nomad Theme

The theme of moving to a new lifestyle permeates the whole of the store but it is also wise to track the celebrations that happen throughout the year.

Collections and Themes

For each season you will create a collection

Valentine's Day is the next major theme that is coming up on RedBubble. The name of this humerous shirt is Always and it is available on 98 designs. Sometimes I like to write or find funny jokes and to illustrate them.

Other times I like to keep the message short, sharp and simple.

ShoSo each theme will have a collection of its own. The beauty of this system is that each year you can add new ideas to the collection and the theming improves over time.

The idea is to upload artworks very often and this keeps your work fresh and alive for Google to sweep. You are also encouraged to look for likes and followers so that people look for your work and build their own collection.

RedBubble does of course provide buttons and various methods of promotion.

No Fincial Risk

Back up and support

RedBubble sends merchants regular newsletters with helpful tips and advice. The merchant pays no outlay costs and receives regular payments when products sell. Communication is streamlined.

Therefore, there are two major challenges for artists who want to sell on RedBubble. The first is coming up with new and creative ideas. The second is to muster up the energy to create thousands of designs so as to create the swirl on Google that is need to to pull traffic.

Soon I intend to experiment with TikTok advertising to see if I can help that swirl along. But in the meantime I intended to just keep creating.

If you are having trouble thinking of ideas here is one way of working described.

Hahaha Well- probably May 2024!

To paraphrase Ross Case phoning Arthur Ashe and presenting himself with just, "Snake here" -- Deedee here ;-D!

When might JoJo and friend have their board game created and ready to earn millions of billions of trillions of Australian dollars?

Jo_Murphy on 02/02/2024

I see what you mean. You may think that the Internet and computer is an outlay. I already had that, anyway. But a friend and I are creating a board game. We will have to pay for the creation of the product, packaging and postage. - That I consider outlay.

Jo_Murphy on 02/02/2024

So Deedee, they are permanently available. This year's Australia Day will be available to add to next years Australia Day - signed JoJ0

Jo_Murphy on 02/02/2024

Hah hah from now on I will call you Deedee and here I am called JoJo
Funny how that evolves?

The first paragraph to your last subheading, No financial risk, mentions that "The merchant pays no outlay costs."

How would I recognize -- ;-D -- an outlay cost? In other words, what would an outlay cost be?

DerdriuMarriner on 02/02/2024

The fourth paragraph to the second subheading, Collections and themes, considers that "The idea is to upload artworks very often and this keeps your work fresh and alive for Google to sweep."

Might products be expected to be archived for future requests or might they have a short shelf life?

In other words, would there be, for example, a spring season whose products only would be available that season?

DerdriuMarriner on 02/02/2024

Yes, with an uncommon -- at least among Unitedstatesians -- Irish first name, I have a nickname!

My nickname is Deedee, for the two letter d's in my name.

Might you have a nickname? Or would that be -- ;-D -- Jo?

Jo_Murphy on 02/01/2024

Do you have a nickname?

DerdriuMarriner on 02/01/2024

The Always t-shirt is a crowd pleaser!

The bottom right of the image offers an arrow that resists my clicking on it.

Would there be something else to see, beyond this frozen arrow?
