Stockport, Cheshire. Heritage Walk

Thank you for your comment below in answer to my previous observation and question.

From my acquaintance with my English ancestors through my paternal grandmother Rose ("grandma blue eyes" ;-D) your answer is what I anticipated!

Religious Gardens

Generally monastic gardeners were chosen from monks and nuns, and monasteries were large enough to select some monks from the monastery to do the gardening. Convents had nuns as gardeners, and it is a mistake to think of gardeners were an exclusively male occupation. Gardening only came to be seen as a masculine occupation when large estates began to treat gardening as a profession which could attract a good pay, which was in the eighteenth century.

Hose's Palm Civets (Diplogale hosei): Non-Ringtails of Borneo

It always appeals to arrange an educational, an informational display for libraries, museums and schools.

Such a display could celebrate a book-club, a family, a reading-club or a science-fair night even as on such an occasion family drinks and foods could constitute part of the evening festivities.

Such an event could consider what hose's palm civets consume.

Hose's palm civets digest what delights human attendees of that occasion:
Crabs;
Frogs;
Shrimp;
Small fish!

Ker Place in Onancock, Accomack County, Eastern Shore Virginia

The information source for the place-name Accomack is philologist James Hammond Trumbull (Thu., Dec. 20, 1821-Thu., Aug. 5, 1897), as included in Frederick Webb Hodge's Handbook of American Indians North of Mexico (Washington, D.C.: Smithsonian Institution, 1911).

Ker Place in Onancock, Accomack County, Eastern Shore Virginia

For those asking about the language behind the place-name Accomack, that afore-mentioned place noun arrives to us from the eastern Algonquian language.

Ker Place in Onancock, Accomack County, Eastern Shore Virginia

For those asking about the English meaning and the language source of the name Accomack, that afore-mentioned place name means perhaps "the other-side place" or "on-the-other-side-of-water place."

Irish authors and their use of Irish mythology in their novels

Thank you for your comment below in answer to my previous observation and question.

Did Dearg due do in men deemed as doing bad deeds or as domiciling the best-energizing, best-looking, best-smelling, best-tasting blood?

Traditional English Christmas Cake

Thank you for your comment below in answer to my previous observation and question.

I'm considering your beautiful traditional-English Christmas cake as a birthday cake whose date comes afore the Christmas season.

What would work for drinks and for main-course and side-order dishes?

North West England . They would welcome you and let it pass. It is a very localised term .

Stockport, Cheshire. Heritage Walk

Reading and re-reading such a compelling wizzley causes me to consider ancientest Roman, less ancient Saxon and even less ancient English linguistic and socio-cultural legacies.

Let's imagine me making Stockport a stop on an east-Atlantic pond itinerary. Let's imagine that I never noticed your and Frank's interaction about Stockport inhabitants as Stopfordians. So let's imagine that upon leaving I thank the hotel- or inn-keepers for all their kindness and all that welcome from other Stockportians.

Might they politely make me aware of the correct noun or might they let it go as perhaps a Unitedstatesianism?

Irish authors and their use of Irish mythology in their novels

Certainly, the Dearg due in Irish mythology was seen as an evil but tragic character, unhappily married. The myth tells that after she killed herself, she rose up and preyed on men, drinking their blood . It is a myth from the southeast of Ireland initially .

Irish authors and their use of Irish mythology in their novels

The next-last section, The "Irish" Vampires, advises us of female blood-suckers and shape-shifters.

Does Irish mythology deem such blood-sucking, shape-shifting females as bad, good, just trying to survive?

Religious Gardens

Thank you for your comment below in answer to my previous observation and question.

Might a gardener for a convent be (and have been in the past) a monk or villager or must a gardener be (and have been in the past) a female (nun or villageress) for a convent or a male (monk or villager) for a monastery?

Traditional English Christmas Cake

I just do not like the sweetness or the "thickness " of it in my mouth.
