One thing to consider before you buy an electric lawn mower is whether you want a corded or a cordless one (I have included both types in my top 5 list).

Corded electrics are generally cheaper, but you have the inconvenience of being limited in where you can go, because you always have to be connected to the nearest power outlet. They can also take a little getting used to - accidentally running over the cord needs to be avoided, as not only will you damage the cord, but you also risk receiving an electric shock. They are usually good value for money, however.

With its powerful and economical 6.5 Amp motor and its solidly built deck, the Black & Decker LM175 is definitely worth paying some consideration. Quiet as well as lightweight, making it easy to push, the mower also comes with a lifetime deck warranty and two-year warranty on everything else. The best thing about this electric lawn mower, however, is the price, you will pay far for most equivalent mowers.

The second cordless electric lawn mower in my list, the WORX WG788 is an excellent mower which incorporates IntelliCut mowing technology, allowing you to made the mower work harder when you encounter grass that is longer or wetter and more difficult to cut. Its special mulching blade is also more effective at cutting up clippings than most (standard) blades.

The Razarsharp Minimower is just about the smallest and lightest lawn mower that you will find on the market, making it a perfect electric lawn mower for small lawns and complicated yards. Despite being only 13 inches wide and weighing in at only 29 pounds, the Minimower's 12 Amp motor still packs power, however. The handles are foldable too, so it takes up hardly any space in the garage.
