The Story of the Wonderbag Eco Slow Cooker

Sometimes inspiriation comes unexpectedly.

Moonlit Night SkySarah Collins has dedicated her life to helping the people of Africa, especially women. She's done a lot to improve the lives of Africans, but in 2008 she felt she could still do more.

At that time, there was an energy shortage in her city of Johannesburg, South Africa. It was not unusual for power to be out for days at a time, and she struggled to find ways to cook a meal.

Having grown up in Africa, she was familiar with the ingenious ways that African women cooked using little resources.

She remembered her grandmother boiling cereal and then removing it from the stove and placing blankets around the pot to keep in the heat until it was cooked.

Sarah tried her grandmother's trick the next time there was power, and...it worked!

She then thought about African women, and how much time they spent gathering wood to cook a meal. She thought about how much money they spent on kerosene or paraffin to use as fuel for cooking. She thought about the dangers they faced, whether it be from burns or smoke inhalation.

She thought her idea could solve all these problems.

Sarah sat down with a friend, and they came up with a product that was built upon her grandmother's concept of heat-retention cooking and the Wonderbag Cooker was born.

Is it Really Eco-Friendly?

The Wonderbag  Eco Slow Cooker is the most environmentally friendly slow cooker because it uses virtually no resources to cook a meal.

Cooking with gas, oil, and wood causes air pollution, and cooking with electricity can be expensive.

This bag minimizes air pollution and expense because you only heat your food to the point of boiling and place it in the bag to continue the cooking process.

What is a Wonderbag Cooker?

It's a non-electric, washable, insulated slow cooker that can cook just about anything you would make in your crockpot.

In simple terms, a Wonderbag is a beanbag that your pot sits in as it cooks your soups, stews, rice, etc.

The filling of the bag acts as an insulator to conserve the heat from your pot. It continues to cook your food and keep it warm for up to 12 hours without any electricity.

Help Those in Need by Buying Yourself a Useful Product

Buying a Wonderbag lets you change the world one family at a time.

Free WonderbagChances are you're buying the Wonderbag  Eco Slow Cooker because you want an energy efficient cooking appliance that works.

That's great for you, but you also want to make a difference in people's lives, right?

Sarah Collins so believes that her product can change her world in Africa, that for every Wonderbag sold, her company will donate one to an African family.

How does a simple beanbag cooker impact an African family's life in such a big way?

African women have difficulty feeding their families, and it's not always because of the lack of food. It's because of how labor intensive the cooking process is.

You're used to popping something in the microwave, or turning on the stove to cook dinner for your family.

But in a poverty-stricken country like Africa, a microwave or a stove can be a luxury that few have, and even fewer have the money to pay for the fuel to use it.

It's even worse for families who use wood as their cooking source. Wood can be scarce in certain parts of Africa. Some children can't even attend school because their time is spent foraging for wood so their mothers can cook a meal.

When you buy a Wonderbag cooker, you're giving women extra time to focus on taking care of their children, or even get a job to further provide for their families. That bag can give children a chance to go to school because they won't be spending their day walking for miles in search of wood.

It also improves their health because they're not breathing in as much fumes and smoke while they're cooking.
