Best Types Of Christmas Decorations To Include In Your Lighted Outdoor Christmas Display

by CEdward

As the Christmas holiday approaches and you are beginning to plan your lighted outdoor display, you have many great Christmas decoration types to choose from.

In setting up your lighted outdoor Christmas display, you have a lot of tools at your disposal as far as what types of decorations to use and how to use them.  You many want to include various Christmas themes in your display that may include: the holy Nativity, a snowy winter wonderland, Santa’s workshop, the North Pole, Christmas in the town, etc.  You really could use any type of theme you want.  To create these themed or non-themed lighted displays in your yard, you have various types of Christmas decorations to choose from.  Some of the better Christmas decoration options you could use in your display include: lighted strands, blow molds, and airblowns.

Christmas light strands can be found in stores in a wide range of sizes and colors.  These lighted Christmas strands can be found typically with miniature, C-7, and C-9 bulb sizes, or with multiple sizes of LED lights.  Colors of these light strands usually include: white, green, blue, red, etc.  These strands can be commonly found on the market with various lighted lengths and bulb amounts per strand numbering up to one hundred.  In general, you will find miniature light sets will have the most bulbs per set (or fewer depending on the length of the strand), whereas larger light size sets may have fewer bulbs.  When planning out the number of light strands and lighted lengths you will need for your Christmas display, you may want to take some approximate measurements of the lengths you intend to light (either with a tape measure or approximating with foot steps) before buying.  You may also just purchase lighted strands as you need them so as not to purchase too many, unless of course this not your first year using the strands.

Blow mold decorations are lighted plastic figures that are illuminated from inside.  Blow molds depict the many characteristic Christmas figures including: the holy family (Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph), the wisemen, Shepard, nativity animals, snowmen, Santa Claus and his reindeer, candles, choir and angel figures, just to name a few.  These blow mold figures range in height from less than a foot up to five feet in height.  Blow molds do tend to cost a little more money than other Christmas decorations but they are lightweight and very durable and can be used in your display for a lifetime if well taken care of.

Airblowns are large inflatable decorations used in outdoor Christmas displays that are made in the form of classic and new variations of the typical Christmas figures.  These Christmas inflatables can be found as figures at no more than four feet in height to well over 12 feet tall and include: Nativity sets, snowmen, countless versions of Santa Claus, Snoopy and friends, the Grinch (who once stole Christmas), just to name a few.  Airblown figures can be purchased at many large retail stores that sell Christmas decorations as well as many online sellers.

These types of Christmas decorations have proven themselves to be some of the better options (in the opinion of this author and his 12+ years of Christmas decorating experience) you can choose from to create and impressive and memorable Christmas light display.
