Birthday Postcards

by sheilamarie

A personal message on your birthday means a lot. Even if you are strapped for time, you can send a birthday postcard to your loved one and let them know you are thinking of them.

Sending a personal message on someone's birthday shows that you care about them. While internet cards might be fun, an honest-to-goodness card that comes through the mail is still a special thing to receive.

But all of us get busy and may not live next to a shopping mall where you can find a variety of greeting cards that will please the special birthday boy or girl. Even if you do live near a store that sells cards, you may not have the time to pick out a card every time you need one. That's when an online source of cards can be handy.

Zazzle Has Great Card Options!

Unique Cards Available Online

You may or may not have heard of the online site called Zazzle. (There is a Zazzle store that caters to people in several different countries, but I will focus on Zazzle.com.) Zazzle is an online site that allows individual designers to create their own cards and then share them with the world. As a result, the site is filled with lively and unusual designs that you won't see at your local Hallmark or grocery store.

Yes, Zazzle also carries some brand name products, such as cards with Disney characters, but most of the stores are created by people who work from their own homes designing products they think others will love. Many of the cards are customizable, too, which means you can add your own photos or print your own favorite saying inside. If you purchase a card from Zazzle, you can be pretty sure the recipient hasn't seen it before.

Do you still send Birthday cards?

Or is it digital only for you?

I do send out the cards.

Digital is o.k., but paper is still better.

Postcards Are an Easy Choice

for Happy Birthday Messages

There are many cards on Zazzle that would fit the bill, but sometimes having a collection of birthday postcards can make your life easier.

I grew up in a large family. I also have many friends from the different places I have lived with whom I like to keep in touch, and a birthday is a good time to send them a message. It turns out, though, that every month I have people I'd like to send a card to, and remembering them all far enough in advance to purchase the card and write the message inside can turn into a major, not to mention expensive, job.

That is why I have started to keep a stack of birthday postcards in my desk drawer. That way I always have one handy and can quickly write a message and send it off. If I ever get to the point where I'm running around with my head cut off, I may decide to pre-print a generic message on the back that I can add a few words to. That is an option Zazzle allows you to do. Right now, however, I prefer to write the whole message each time.

Adding the Personal Touch with Customizable Cards

That's Something You Can't Get at the Store!

Some of these cards are from my own Zazzle store, sheilamarie78* . A couple of the birthday postcards I've made have places where you can customize the card by adding your friend's name. Because I love to sing the "Happy Birthday" song, I've included the line "Happy Birthday, dear ____" so that you can add whatever name you choose. This can be fun for anyone, but it would be especially fun for a person who has an unusual name, as they, too, can get a personalized card.

Zazzle Has Lots of Options

Don't Limit Yourself to Just a Few

Even though I have my own Zazzle store with many card options, the Zazzle site has many more options for you if you want to explore. Clicking on any of these cards will bring you to the Zazzle site where you can see for yourself what is available there. Who knows, maybe you'll be inspired to create your own cards from scratch!

@Veronica I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Veronica on 04/02/2016

Yes I will do. I am very creative and like to do something different .

Ty for the idea.

@Veronica Let me know how successful they are for you.

@Mira Most of the postcards I sell are not the birthday ones yet -- they're too new -- but ones that depict a specific place, such as Boston or Vermont covered bridges. They're not exactly selling like hotcakes, but they are the items that sell most often on my Zazzle store. I thought I'd try the birthday postcards as an idea, as I'm from a large family and the cards would be handy to have at home, ready to go. I will evaluate whether or not they've been successful once they've been available for a while.
How have your birthday greeting cards done?

Veronica on 03/21/2016

Yes a wonderful idea, . I have often made my own cards but I think I will try birthday post cards now ! thank you for the idea. A lovely post.

It's interesting that you sell postcards. I made my Happy Birthday cards greeting cards. Perhaps I should make some postcards as well!

sheilamarie on 03/20/2016

@dustytoes I think I sell more postcards than anything else.

dustytoes on 03/20/2016

Postcards tend to sell well for all occasions and it's because they look so nice and cost so little, plus the postage is less. The more customizable items you have in your Z store, the better for your store rank also.
