In the world of chairs, there are many variants – the summer lounges, wicker chairs, settees, relaxing sofas, couches, divans and loveseats. However, the hanging hammocks chairs have a special place. Not only do they give a feeling of comfortable seating, they allow you to swing in the air defying gravity.
Since ancient days, man was discovering equipment that provided the snug feeling to fall asleep at ease. The idea of chairs that provided hand rest could have come easily come to him, so might the idea of a comfortable backrest and cushion for a chair. Materials used in the chairs have varied significantly. We have rattan chairs, wrought iron stools and fabric covered sofa all for increased comfort.
Hammock chairs can be easily supported by any powerful ceiling or a strong beam if you want it indoors or on brawny tree branches if you are fond of outdoors. Hanging chair provide similar feeling of the swings, with the burly and heavily built mechanisms to support weight.
In the world of hanging hammocks there are lots of choices starting from the simple and affordable to ridiculously extravagant designs. If you are a hammock fan, it will help to go through the many types of designs available, keeping considerations to the specifications, the type and size you desire.

Love hanging in the hammock's chairs?
In particular, I appreciate the idea of being swung gently back and forth by breezes under a sturdy branch that holds a hanging hammock.
The hammock hanging and swinging by garage or house beams or by metal support perhaps is more environmentally friendly than unnecessary wear-and-tear on a tree branch, wouldn't you think?
Hammock chairs are a great idea! :) I'd love to be able to enjoy my reading in one, or simply fall asleep, as you say. Great topic! :)
I remember an old studio where a hanging hammock chair was central piece of non-tech equipment. It was always occupied, even when the studio was not working, somebody was always there, I suspect many came just to take a break from whatever and enjoy few relaxing minutes... Now the studio is closed for years, but I believe the owner move the chair to his home.
Hi EliasZanetti,
There are so many designs that it is easy to get confused. Going through some kind of research and review helps.
Dear JoHarrington and Ragtimelil,
There are various sizes and designs available. Perhaps it needs planning because it does take up the space.
I remember being surprised how comfortable they are the first time I sat in one. All I need is a place to put one...
I'd love one too. But no place to hang it.....yet!!!!
Great designs and they look very comfortable!
It's on my bucket list to one day own a hammock. I'm just not sure where I'd put it!
