Toys Inspired by Mater's Tall Tales
Cars Toons feature Mater in adventures from his past
Cars was the 2006 blockbuster movie from Disney/Pixar that featured Larry the Cable Guy as the voice of Mater the tow truck. Mater became one of the movies most popular characters, and Disney later released a series of animated shorts featuring Mater telling stories of his past adventures. These tall tales, known Cars Toons, were originally shown on the Disney Channel, Disney XD and Toon Disney, and were later collected and released on the Mater's Tall Tales DVD. The toys shown here were inspired by these fun tales.

Heavy Metal Mater
Mater rocks out
Heavy Metal Mater was first shown on TV in October 2010. In this CARS Toon, Mater is a rock star in a heavy metal band that has a hit song called "Dad Gum," based on one of Mater's famous lines. Lightning McQueen joins him on stage along with other members of the band, including some pitts who play the guitars and drums. Mia and Tia also appear in this short, first as waitresses and then as fans at the concert.
Mater the Greater
Mater is a daredevil performer
In the second installment in the Cars Toon series, Mater stars as Mater the Greater, a daredevil who appears in red, white and blue costumes similar to Evel Knievel. Mater performs several stunts in this short, including jumping over (well, not quite) a line of cars, going off a high dive into a small pool of water, and then attempting to jump over Carburetor Canyon - but not until he pushes Lightning McQueen to attempt the stunt first while strapped to a rocket.

Monster Truck Mater
"Frightening McMean" is Mater's tag team wrestling partner
In this short,first shown on TV in July 2010, Mater is a professional monster truck wrestler known as "The Tormentor." He defeats a series of opponents, including Captain Collision, The Rasta Carian, Dr. Feel Bad, I-Screamer, and Paddy O'Concrete. But he needs to call in his tag team partner ("Frightening McMean") to battle his fiercest foe, Dr. Frankenwagon's Monster.

El Materdor
Mater as a bulldozer-fighting matador
El Materdor was the third installment in the Cars Toon series and features Mater as a bulldozer-fighting matador in Spain. Faithful fans Mia and Tia cheer him on from the crowds as he fights an angry bulldozer. But when Lightning McQueen joins him in the ring, the bulldozers chase after him instead.
