Designer Fall Wedding Stationery

by dustytoes

It may be very difficult to choose your fall wedding invitations. With all the beautiful paper out there I want to give you a place to begin the search.

Many engaged couples plan to marry in the Fall season. The most obvious reason is because of the beautiful foliage, and as someone who lives in New England, I get to see (and photograph) an array of gorgeous Autumn leaves and scenes each season.

Most everyone loves this season. The heat of summer has passed, the air is crisp and clear and natures puts on an amazing display as the trees shed their leaves. People travel from miles around to view the scenic New England countryside - and other areas where the foliage is spectacular.

Imagine combining that beauty with the paper you choose for your wedding. Designers at the Zazzle site have a lot for you to peruse, and with an abundance of colors, sizes and prices, and the option to have personal help, it's a good place to begin shopping for wedding stationery.

First You Will Want to Announce the Wedding With Save-the-Date cards.

Some designers offer a photo template to further personalize the announcement.

save the date postcardQuite often the first thing a couple will do is send engagement announcements or save the date cards.  This is especially popular when the wedding will be held in a distant location that will require extra planning.  Save the date announcements can be anything from small magnets and postcards, to elegant custom designs with a photo template.  If the venue is chosen and the wedding date is selected, include that information as you announce the special event.  There are a number of ways to send this kind of announcement.

Many couples choose to send affordable postcards, like this Back Road Save-the-Date Postcard by Fall Colors,  and they can be just as nice as any fancy card. The postage for postcards is less than a regular cards with envelopes, and the cost of purchasing the postcards is usually less (depending on the design).

The only drawback is that there is no specialty paper available for them, but the postcard paper itself is very nice.  They measure 4.25 x 5.6 inches (10.8 cm x 14.2 cm) and the front will be glossy.  You may choose to personalize the announcement further by adding a photo.

Zazzle offers great bulk order discounts, and you will save even more if you have a large order.  Discounts begin with an order of only eight postcards!

Dates for Foliage Season in New England

People visit the northeastern United States from all over the world to see our beautiful fall color.

In New England the autumn season seems to go by way too quickly.  Some years are better than others for color, and we all dread a windy storm coming through that will snatch our colorful leaves away too soon.

Where I live, in southwestern New Hampshire, leaves can begin to change as early as late August.  It's always a bit of a shock to see color when it's still hot outdoors.

The leaves really begin to change in September, which is always a beautiful month, but by mid to late October foliage season is winding down.

For the best chance to see gorgeous color, the first two weeks of October are generally spectacular!

To keep up with the color, view the Foliage Map at the Yankee Foliage site, during the season.

A Note of Caution When Planning a New England Fall Wedding

The northeastern United States is a busy place during foliage season.

fall leaves wedding stickerFall weddings are beautiful, but couples who want to get married in New England in the Fall season may have trouble booking a venue, especially if the wedding will be small.

My daughter is planning her wedding and wants to get married in a small Inn in northern New Hampshire and we are finding that many of them won't commit to booking a wedding during peak "leaf peeping" times.

Peak time for leaf viewing in New England usually runs from mid-September to mid-October so at the very least begin your venue search early and if you find a place to celebrate, be ready for possible crowds of 'leaf peepers' everywhere you go!

Trees and Heart-Shaped Leaves and Little Birds

Whimsical and sweet designer paper.

fall love birds tree swingTrees, real and designed or drawn, are popular choices for fall wedding invitations, like the Love Birds Falling Hearts Oak Tree invitations shown here and created by InvitationBlvd at Zazzle.  Trees are what make the Fall season what it is, and whether it's bare branches with leaves floating down, or scenic wooded areas, the stationery can be simple or elegant and there are a lot of paper options.

Zazzle is a great site to find specialty wedding invitation sets.  With so many talented designers making unique wedding paper, your invitations can be custom made to your specifications.  Most designers give customers the option to contact and make requests.  Keep in mind that most every wedding invitation you see can be altered.  From the font styles and colors to the size of the cards, and specialty envelopes can even be made to match some of the invitation sizes.

Orange Orchids Wedding Paper

Use tradtional fall flowers like mums and dahlias, or other flowers in autumn colors.

orange orchid fall invitations

Choose traditional flowers of fall for wedding bouquets and table centerpieces or go with a more non-traditional flower choice in traditional fall colors.

The orange orchid stationery is perfect for Autumn with it's bright coloring. Orange orchids could also adorn the bridal bouquet or tables at the reception.

More orange flower ideas would be roses, ranunculus, Gerbera daisies, calla lilies, alstromeria (aka Peruvian lilies), and big dahlias.

Quaint Inns and Hotels in New England Can Accommodate Your Event

Rustic and rural places with views abound in this area of the country.

Fireplace room Inn

Imagine a wedding in a home away from home, with a gorgeous view and a honeymoon suite upstairs.

Booking a quaint New England Inn gives you an intimate atmosphere with accommodations on the premisses. It's a perfect choice for a Fall destination wedding.

As with all types of weddings, be sure to plan ahead. This is especially important in this popular tourist season when places book up fast.

Many visitors come from all over to see the spectacular foliage in the New England area and if your dream wedding takes place in a quaint, mountaintop Inn, you'd better make a venue choice far in advance.

Most places hold weddings regularly and may have a planner for you to use on the premisses.

Thanks Digby, I bet your wedding was gorgeous! Early October is the perfect time to marry in New England.

Digby_Adams on 03/15/2012

These are gorgeous Autumn wedding invitations. I was married in early October in Maine and luckily I had my own backyard. Because you are right, depending on the weather, you might not be able to book a venue. But it is a glorious backdrop for a wedding.
