After Writing Wizzley 50 Articles and a New Law, I've Lost My Momentum

I've seem to have lost my momentum after writing 50 Wizzley articles. I was on a roll..... but then the new law in my state now makes it impossible for me to make affiliate income on Amazon, and Wizzley changed its rules adding that we have to use the Zazzle module rather than using the Zazzle affliliate links in a text module.

We didn't really make a big change there, WebWriter. Being a revenue sharing site, and providing convenient (and pretty) sales modules, our intentions were clear from the beginning: use the modules where possible and use text links for all other affiliate companies.

On the other hand, we wanted to be a little more flexible and allow for the occasional text links in addition to our modules. We didn't think it was necessary to create a stiff set of rules for that, because the vast majority of our regular authors understand and respect our concept of "sharing".

It was only when we realized that more and more new authors tried to cut Wizzley out of the sharing part, we knew that we had to tighten up our rules. If Wizzley doesn't make any money, it may not stay sustainable as a business. And that would be bad for all authors, right?

There are still plenty of opportunities to use creatives from Shareasale, CJ, Linkshare, Pepperjam, etc., where you can get a 100% share of your impressions.

Considering all this, I believe our system is more than fair.

I hope you will find your momentum again, soon.  Smile

I thnk 50 articles in a month would tire most Wizzlers! I'm sure as you see some revenue, you'll perk up again.

The state law is more problematic, because more than just Amazon will throw you out. I don't know what Zazzle's policy is. But you could try K-mart and Sears affiliate programs. They both convert for me and already collect sales taxes in every state because they have stores there.

Good Luck!

@webwriter - I live in one of those states as well and really look for a goal as to what I want a Wizzley article to do, knowing I can't use an Amazon module within the article.  When creating an article that is geared towards selling, I utilize a different writing platform.  It will probably take me a while to reach 50 articles here with this approach, but over time I'm sure I will.

Yea, I get what you are saying Chef... I know Wizzley is being fair (never siad  it wasn't)... its mainly the Amazon law that bummed me out. I know there are other affiliates, but it takes so much work every time I join a new one. I just don't have the energy for it right now.  I'm sure I'll be back to writing articles soon.

Just sounds like you need a little break, WebWriter. 50 articles is an impressive goal to reach in such a short time.

I admit, I'd assumed right at the start that I had to use the Wizzley modules rather than my own links so that's what I did. Sounds like I missed out on a chance to supplement the modules with my custom links there, while others were seizing the opportunity. Ah well.

It's sad that a few people abused the system but then again it's something of the nature of the Internet. Wizzley is upfront about the rules and I think that does allow us to make an informed choice. Some topics will be suited to Wizzley, some might be more profitable to explore on self-hosted sites or even Squidoo.

Hope you feel motivated again soon, WebWriter! I haven't been around here much lately either but that doesn't mean I'm abandoning Wizzley, I'm just trying to decide which eggs will do better in which baskets. Smile
