Just a head's up that I'm having great difficulty with my internet connection at the moment. I'm on in short bursts using a 500 MB dongle. -.-
That's just in case anyone thought I defected or died or passed out in a gutter somewhere.
Keep those home fires burning!

PS Germans... why is your Lower Saxony further north than your Saxony? And why is your Western Pa... sorry forgotten the name and no proper internet to look it up!... actually in the east? You're NOT helping me one little bit, when it comes to Naming the Provinces of Germany games. > : ( Please sort it out. kthxbai

'Lower' does not always mean 'lower on a map'. Think 'low country' vs 'high country', flatland vs hills, flat-chested vs ... you get my drift.
I don't know any 'Western Pa'. Consider, however, the words of a real wise Bavarian: "No matter how far east you'll go ... there's always more east."

I can't tell you how freaking frustrated I am today. I've got a long article about Anne Neville mostly written. But the stop-start, and above all SLOW, nature of my connection has me tearing my hair out. It's not conducive to telling a good story.
*wants to cry*
BT have said it'll be two days before they can even fix the box. I'm definitely unplugged for that time and working with this dongle, which has stopped working completely on my desktop. I'm writing this on my notebook.
Fortunately, I'm off camping this weekend. Hopefully I'll be wired again by the time I come back. However, I have heard ominous whispers from others who went through this. It took them two weeks to get sorted.
I should have kept hold of that engineer yesterday. Chained him to the freaking radiator, until he got me up and running. I only let him go because he swore black as blue that another engineer was on the way.
*sigh*

I did it! I freaking well did it!
But I'm on the very last of my dongle bandwidth. I don't think I'll have enough to correct any typos or publicize it. Hopefully I can find a hotspot in an internet cafe somewhere tomorrow to do that.
But I got that blasted Anne Neville thing out!
Much thanks to Paul, for fact checking via text message! <3

Hi all,
I'm still without a decent internet connection. The one I have is slow and intermittent. But BT did promise faithfully that it'll be working yesterday.
...
...
...
And it's not. Your guess is as good as mine when it will be.
It's frustrating to the point of tears. Just wanted to give you the heads up, as I'm struggling to keep up with comments and messages, let alone articles. :(

Have managed to lose your mobile number when my phone had a spazz with the silly signal around here lately. (T-Mobile/EE are upgrading the local mast which kept falling over. So they're trying to rebuild it strong enough to carry 4G...I wish them luck!) Hope you still have my number; let me know if I can help in any way. I'd like to offer to upload articles but that could prove difficult. I do however have a reasonable internet connection should you need me to assist. My husband insists on it so I'm happy to go along with that.
From personal experience of BT being a bunch of nutjobs, I'd suggest asking to escalate your problem. That soon put the wind up them when I had issues with closing my account after leaving my flat 10 years ago. From speaking to the foot soldiers offshore, I found myself talking to a charming Scottish chap who knew as soon as I gave my name what my problem was. Within a few days my outstanding balance was refunded and my old account closed. It took me forever to get to that point but once I put my foot down, things moved Rather Quickly.
Good luck!

Thanks all for your advice and kind offers of help.
Yesterday, BT put us off for another couple of days even to get an installation date. So I said, 'Sod it!' and drove to my friend's house in Merseyside. I'm now sitting at his table on my notebook, leeching his internet connection (with his blessing!) and even being fed cups of tea! I could get used to this.
I'm likely to stay here for a few days, where I can at least work. Happy days!

Lucky you!
My friend in Merseyside is currently having a crisis so no such chance of him helping me out any time soon... *facepull*
