I've woken up this morning to find that one of my articles has received a lot more interest than usual.  I checked it out and the source was Google.

It's Ada Lovelace's 197th birthday, so she's been featured in a Google doodle.   Many people are finding my Wizzle about her accordingly: Ada Lovelace: The First Computer Programmer in 1843.

Happy days!

Lana - Diolch yn fawr!

Sam - Oh dear!  Just have to polish up that crystal ball!   This article is still gathering pace.  It's had over a thousand hits today alone.

Googl Doodle (across all countries) are mainly related to anniversaries of eminent dead beings. With your historical knowledge Jo, you should be able to predict at least some of the likely Doodle recipients. Just write an article six months ahead of the anniversary.

Try this URL http://www.google.com/doodles/finder/2012/All%20doodles to see all previous doodles so that you can disregard the recipients in your quest to predict those that may receive the accolade in the future.

Did you know you can click on the doodle and get the SERPs for a search on the doodle recipient? You can the see where your article ranks and why you are getting the traffic.

If you are artistic you could pre-empt an anniversary by sending a doodle to Google for that event.

Hollie - Thanks!

Chaz - That's all really useful to know.   Thanks for that too.  Having seen the results of this one, I'm definitely up for pre-empting another one.
