At the end of last year I asked all the great Wizzley members where they hoped to be in six months time. I know, I know, that was only three months ago! However, as we're all mid wayish.. through that period, it might be a good exercise to see if we are anywhere near reaching our goals, if there have been setbacks, or not.

Personally, I wanted to have to 100 articles by June and a Zazzle store full of great products. I'd underestimated the amount of time needed to produce those products, and just how into art I would become! I do believe that I've been re-introduced to my inner child. I used to love art so much. As such, we are now in March and I've produced 36 articles, there will be another three which I will add that have been removed from another site. A new article which will be published tomorrow and another seven in the making. But, in terms of pages, not as many as I'd hoped. Still happy though ;)

Here is the original thread which we all contributed to:  http://wizzley.com/forum/chatter-away-friends/goals-for-next-year/2

Where are you? Are you on target to meat your goals or otherwise?

My targets by Xmas 2013 were to get 1 million of each of the following:

  • Products on my website (Artwork-Craftwork.com) = about 100K, but putting more up every day (with aff links to sites being added in, I'm probably linked to well over 1 million sales revenue possibilities)
  • Visitors to my Wizzley articles = 429031 Impressions (but remember these are not all human visitors)
  • Visitors to my HP articles = 334,329 (but many visits have been deleted due to transfer of articles elsewhere)
  • Followers across all my social sites (this one is going slowly) = ~8,000 Twitter fans across several a/c's, over 1,000 FB ArtworkCraftwork fanpage fans since Christmas 2012; 300+ fans of my writing on Wizzley & HP, some others dotted around various other places)
  • Monthly visitors to my website = only at about 10k / month at present and increasing steadily (but not promoting heavily yet)
  • $ in the bank = if I had I wouldn't shout about it, but I haven't.

So, two months of 2013 down and a long way to go to get to my targets. A couple I may achieve - the others were never achievable in the timescale - but I have the rest of my life to achieve them!

Always good to have targets!

My big goal is to have a nice website and I have not given up on that, but I need to get my taxes done and find out where I stand with that.

I still need money to continue to fix up my house, and a new car is off the list now.  All of this effects the amount of money I will have to invest in my business ventures -website included.

It appears that you are both making forward progress toward your goals.  Best of luck!

Dustytoes, I sorted out my tax at the end of January and I was so pleased to get that out of the way. We're not even three months into the six month period so at least when you've allocated money etc. you'll be able to see when it might be possible to set up that website. I wish you loads of luck with it. :)

I've just looked back over my goals from 3 months ago.  I was still undecided, but they read (with update reports):

  • Still write for Wizzley.  CHECK!  I've written regularly here all year so far.
  • Write eBooks.   I've got three on the go, but things keep going wrong.   Firstly, I panic.  Books take time to write, and while I'm writing them, I'm not writing other things, which are out immediately and might make money.   I know that I have the potential to make much more with books, but the panic remains.  I can only assuage that by gritting my teeth and doing something else (Wizzley or Zazzle), which has the potential to make money today.  Secondly, I hate and detest rewriting things or amending things.  I get bored stupid.  All three of those books involve going over old ground.   It's like pulling teeth for me.
  • Write for Suite101.  Well, I did that.  They got five new articles out of me this year.  Then they decided that they a) weren't a site for freelance writers anymore and b) that they weren't paying writers for future articles.  I've removed this from my goals accordingly.
  • Pay attention to my Zazzle stores.   CHECK!  I've got five times as many products for sale on there than I put up for the entire of last year.
  • Put some articles on Squidoo.  I've failed so far to go anywhere near it.  I'm also paying attention to the number of people coming in the opposite direction, saying that they're leaving Squidoo.  I don't know what it all means, but it's not persuading me to rush there.
  • Create my own site/blog.  CHECK!   You may find it here:  Beautiful Britain.   It launched to wonderful acclaim, with enough traffic and resultant sales to confirm that I should run with this.  I spent my first ever Amazon cheque on paying for a domain name for ten years.  Then traffic immediately plummeted.  I'm feeling quite depressed about that.

And that's me up to date!

Thanks Hollie.  I have had my tax paperwork in to the preparer for over a month without having it get done - so it's a bit frustrating.  That website is becoming a daily recurring thought, so I know I need to go for it soon.

@Jo - Squidoo still does a nice job of sending viewers to my Zazzle stores.  Other than that, it does not seem worth the effort to me.
