I realize that the forum is probably not high on the priority list, but I would like to ask about it.

When I visit the forum, I ususally use the link in the header under help. Then I find NEW TOPICS. But I find that some categories on the forum are not included in that list. For example, the contests. Why is that?

AND it doesn't seem to be updated often. I mean, there will be a thread with new posts and it doesn't show up at the top of the new topics list. If I come to the forum itself, there is no place to click for threads with new posts.

It's a small thing, but I do love the community that is formed around a site like this. I find it motivating, in fact, to keep writing wizzes when I have the interaction of my peers. I like to have easy ways to stay on top of conversations. And I'm struggling with it. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi Jimmie,

the list of latest threads should be always up to date without any delay. Except threads from the internal forums, which can be accessed by logged in users only: Those never show up on that list. We could implement, that as a logged in user, also those topics are listed. I'll put it on our todo list. If that's not it, then it might be a bug, but that's rather unlikely in that case. Anyways, the RSS feed can only show public forum threads, because there is no way to check if a logged in user acceses it or a visitor.

Maybe a list of latest posts would also be useful ...

In the main menu, we don't list any forums to keep the whole thing as slim as possible, E.g. we could also list there all topics on Wizzley, but it only makes the menu a big chunk of code, that - at worst - confuses Google. For Google, it is text, that appears very high on top of the page, and thus could be misinterpreted as content. We want to keep such things to a minimum.

Cheers,

Simon

Oh, this is helpful. I didn't realize some forums were invisible to non Wizzley folks. It seems to me that the latest link (accesssed from the HELP menu) does not update regularly. But maybe that's because I'm not clear on what forums are available to outsiders and which ones are.

No matter. Thanks for the feedback, though.

Hey Jimmie, as a first update: From now on, the list of latest forum topics contains also user-only  topics when you are logged in. However, the feed only shows the public topics, because feeds can't be protected by password/username.

Great hint, thanks :)
