I haven't taken a vacation in many, many years and even when I was married and we went on vacation -usually to the beach- I was always watching the kids, cooking (to save money) and basically doing what I always did at home, just someplace else.
This summer I have 2 REAL vacations planned (catching up!) and what I look forward to is not cooking! That, and being near the water, is my idea of a good time.
So I was wondering about you guys? What makes it a vacation for you?
(today I am dreaming, while snow falls - expecting over a foot )

A great vacation for me is being with people I REALLY like and love, lounging on the beach a tad but mostly taking charter boats out to explore islands offering great beauty and escape. I also enjoy amazing food, the night life and basically sleeping very little. I enjoy splurging on vacation.
I'm exhausted after a good vacation and that's what coming home is for, REST!
Pam, I'll imagine you having the most amazing vacation ever!

I like those good thoughts Katie! And I agree, vacationing is not for lounging but for getting out and doing. I do plan to explore little islands myself - we are renting a boat! I may end up writing a Wizzley all about it.
(Hope your family is doing okay - good to hear from you)

Experiencing the culture (when abroad), the sights, food etc. Interrupted by the odd day of lounging on a sun drenched beach. :)

Real vacation is when you don't need a watch. This is my only rule.

Vacation? What is that? I don't think I've ever had a real vacation. But if I did take one, I'd like to go to Key West. Money would be no object. That's my idea of a vacation.

A holiday is getting away from the mundane and exploring the exciting, different locale one finds along the way. No sitting or standing still. Movement is the name of the game - experiencing the sights, noises, tastes, smells etc of wherever one may be. People are not required. Nor are cities, towns and airport lounges. A pleasant place to lay ones head at night to refresh is required, but that is all that is needed.
