There has got to be a plugin for Wordpress so we can post affiliate widgets. Does anyone know how to do this?

Could you explain a little more what you require to do - I amy be able to assist but do not understand your requirement. If you have a look at my website (as linked to below) you may see an example of what you are looking for - maybe Zazzle widget or something else.

If I want to add an affiliate to my blog, let's say Zazzle. How do I do it? On Wordpress, I believe I need a plugin in order to do this. I hope that makes sense.

Aha! No

You just need the widget code - get this from the affiliate site.

Then you add the code into the 'TEXT' rather than the 'VISUAL' editor.

If you want it to show in a side column of a specific theme, then you will need to go to 'Appearance' , 'Widgets' and drag and drop the 'Text' type in 'Available Widgets' column to the appropriate sidebar on the right hand side - then paste the code for the widget into the text widget.

Hope I've explained this so that you can follow it easily.

Good luck!

I just got that headway themes theme it's a click drag draw format and pretty amazing... I'm just getting used to wordpress myself but this theme is the missing link it's every theme really, it skins a leggo station over the normal wordpress control panel and you can literally draw your boxes/shapes then assign them as image, video, comment box, etc... It's a lot more fun than the dos feel of wordpress menus :) although I use them a lot within it (you can go either way the theme pretty much builds your frame/construct/aesthetics and the posts/pages still builds your content... feels kinda like wizzley on wordpress :)

Arlene, you can use all of the ad progs and affiliate programs (and lots more) that you use on Wizzley - just go to the 'plugins', 'Add new' section (accessed from the left hand menu in the Admin section (just edit any page and this will show up)) and enter a search term such as 'Adsense', 'Chitika' etc and browse through the list of plugins available.

Once one shows up that looks like what you want, check the details page to see how to instal it, and follow the instructions.

Or you can use a theme that incorporates various ad modules - some you pay for and some you don't.

Good luck!

Arlene, some advertisers do want you to have a following. You have to get their approval before you can post their ads. Others, like Amazon, will let you post right away without an approval.

But you can post their ads if you incorporate Viglink static shortcode affiliate links (assuming Viglink is affiliated to the program). Just go to Viglink 'Tools', 'Link Wrapper' and add the page you want an affiliate link to. Tick the 'Shorten with Bit.ly' box. Then copy and paste (save it somewhere as well) the shortcode link wherever you want it on your WP blog / website, as a hyperlink.

You will be giving up 40% of the earnings, but you will not have to be approved by the affiliate program direct. This is best used when starting out and when you have failed to be approved for a particular program. You are never without an option. Remember though that you will need to create an account with Viglink for yourself (do not use the Wizzley Viglink account).

In your quest to find advertise plugins, you may wish to check out the Viglink plugin - that is if you want Viglink to do all the work and hyperlink to affiliate programs rather than using their static shortcodes. However, static shortcodes are also useful for direct linking through social media such as Twitter, FB and other bookmarking sites.

BTW I'm talking about self-published WP sites and not Wp.com. I don't use Wp .com, so if you are using that for your blog most of the above info is probably not relevant.

Arlene, if you want to make money on affiliate marketing, sign up with Wordpress.org. Wordpress.com doesn't allow you to make money on your website.

I tried some time ago to use WP.org but could never get it to work. I'm not sure how one makes money on a blog either. I've got 3 blogs and hardly anyone reads them. I still plug along though. Maybe we need some good Wizzes about that.
