Any suggestions for screen shots?

I'm trying to write a tutorial on MS Access. The screen shots look terrible. I spent all afternoon trying to find a way to bring them in so that they are clear. I tried paint.net, PSElements, copy/past, and even downloaded a Screenshot program. This was the best I could do.

Strangely enough, if I copy paste it here in the forum, it looks GREAT. Just not so much in a text module.

I wonder if maybe if you check how they look on "page view" you may be more satisfied than in edit mode? I used screenshots in two of my articles and I think they came out ok. I used paint.net to increase the contrast/decrease brightness to get them looking they way they do, but that was all.

How big are the screenshots that you're taking? If they're full screen you'll have problems trying to get them to fit in an image module and still have them readable.

Make sure you're saving them as .png rather than .jpg or anything else too - that will help.

Sheri, no, they look nasty even on page view.

Paul, I'm only trying to paste an image about the same size as most of the photos I use. I ended up using screenhunter which did help, but they're still not great. Mystified why they look good on the forum but not in a module.

I did use a png and they were still fuzzy, even if I didn't resize. I don't have any options with ScreenHunter.

Edit: I'm going to go ahead and publish. I can always update them if I find a way to make them look better.

Perhaps it's because Wizzley's image module uploads them as a .jpg whereas if you use an image's URL Wizzley doesn't need to re-upload and therefore will display as .png?

EDIT: Interestingly enough, I tried both methods and they both came out with .png and looking fine...

Or maybe it's to do with image compression in articles but not in the forum? This is what image compression can do, but I doubt it's that... It's somewhat stumped me too! Not admitting defeat as of yet though!

Wish I could show better but like I said, they look great on the forum.

Except that I get this message

Ensure this value has at most 10000 characters (it has 122267).

What's giving you that error message?

When I try to do a straight printscreen/paste. I assume it's just too big, as you said.

You get that message when you paste it into a specific program? The regular paint that comes with your computer should be able to handle that fine?

no, when I paste it directly into a wizzley box.

I tried editing with paint and it looked terrible. That's why I was having such a time with it.

Are you just trying to crop it to a decent size? I'm unsure as to what editing you're trying to achieve :P
