Can we used images from VigLink affiliates?

If we are writing an article and want to promote items from specific affiliates through VigLink, are we permitted to use images from said affiliate to promote those items? Or, can we only use in text links and no images.?

You mean if we're allowed to use the images as our own on the article? Well, I'm sure we're allowed to as you're getting that business a sale using it. Profit for them right :)

They'll soon get in touch with you if they want you to remove them, so I'd say go ahead - what's the harm?

I've been looking through VigiLink's list of merchants- there's an abundance of quality stuff to promote, but of course pictures help.:)

Every affiliate will have their own rules regarding this, there is no one fits all rule, sorry. So yes, you will have to check the respective websites for their TOS regarding this. Viglink is only the mediator / facilitator for this, they can't give you permissions, that is down to the single merchant.
