Chitika Questions

Hi, I signed up for Chitika and I have a couple of questions about the reports. There are 4 columns: Date, Impressions, Impressions/Clicks eCPM and Impressions/Clicks Revenue. There is also a total at the bottom of each of the columns. I do not understand what they mean. I tried looking around the Chitika site and I couldn't find an explanation so I was hoping someone here could help me.

On each date there are a certain number of impressions. I am assuming an impression is when someone views a page.

On the next column "Impressions/Clicks eCPM" there are two days that have a dollar amount. One day is 47 cents and the other one is 82 cents. The rest of the days have a zero amount. The total at the bottom of that column is 17 cents. Would that be the average of all of the days?

The next column, "Impressions/Clicks Revenue" has 2 cents on both of the rows that correspond with the 47 cents and 82 cents mentioned above. All of the other days are zeros. The total at the bottom is 4 cents. I get that one.

I just don't understand exactly what all of this means and how it is figured.

Impressions refers indeed to the number of times your ad was displayed (when someone views one of your pages).

eCPM is a commonly used metric in the advertising industry, meaning "effective cost per thousand impressions". It's like saying: If you had a thousand impressions you could potentially have earned amount $x.

Your earnings, based on your actual clicks and/or impressions, would be the number in the Revenue column.

The numbers in the bottom row show your total impressions, the average eCPM for all your impressions, while the revenue is the total amount you actually earned.

Nightowl, Thank you very much for your detailed explanation in language that I actually understand. I was getting more and more confused every time I looked at my Chitika reports. It makes sense now.
