Duplicate content question - No worries :)

Hi :)

I'm thinking of moving my three historical lenses over to Wizzley. However, with the huge amount of text, research and design I put into these lenses, I'm not sure to be able to rewrite them entirely (moreover, English is not my first language, so history is quite hard to translate properly).

What should I do first?

Delete those lenses, wait for a while (asking Google to remove them from their index?) and then re-create them on Wizzley?

Keep those lenses as they are and bet on Wizzley's duplicate content checker while I rewrite them on here - crossing fingers my writings won't trigger the software :)

Thanks in advance for any help. I'll make a decision in regards of your suggestions :)

Cheers :)

Dom.

Dom.  If you are moving them wholesale, then you need to wait for them to deindex, but why not write a related topic and link to them instead.  That would drive traffic to the lenses, and give you new traffic here.

Well, I'd like to move them for several reasons, the most important one being the traffic. I noticed that history stuff doesn't particularly work on Squidoo. Like things work on HubPages and not on Squidoo, etc.

I also thought Wizzley's overall design looks more "serious" than Squidoo's - which looks more fun.

But I may try out with an entirely new page and then see what happens...

I'd definitely advise NOT deleting the lenses, nor moving over the content. Instead write something new in those niches (for instance - about a phrase that draws traffic on either Squidoo or Hubpages) and then interlink with the lens. Since you're not getting traffic on squidoo - interlinking both ways is most likely to get you traffic to one, or the other or both.

I hear you Spirituality, however, in no way I want to link from elsewhere on the Web to my Squidoo account. Those lenses don't get traffic, I think that they could be used elsewhere.

I made something similar in the past, moving content from one of my sites to HubPages, but I don't remember how many time between deletion on my own site and rebuilding of the pages on Hub.

I will contact Google, hoping they can deindex them quickly after deletion. If they can't, I'll get a domain name and host the pages on there.
