Having trouble with the Amazon module.

I've been trying to add items to the Amazon module (on a page in progress - a new article I am working on)  in the gallery area and each time I save the module and then go in to add more items, they all disappear except the first one I added.

Edited to say that I tried it once more and they all stayed.

My carousel widget doesn't appear in page view, though it seems okay in workshop mode. I wasn't sure if it was just my poor internet connection or a problem with the module.

@Dustytoes: Does it appear really okay again? One glitch may happen, but if it occurred a second time, we'l definitively look right into this immediately!

@sheilamarie: Di you have an ad blocker? If so, it needs to be inactive for the Carousel to show. If it doesn't, there's still the possibility, that Amazon has a problem in their code. In this case, I doubt it's a bug on Wizzley's end. We more or less simply load Amazon's code :)

this has happened to me too but sporatically so. I go and load 6 tabs with amazon products (in my browser) then copy one at a time the DP (product number) into the box adding a comma each time, I learned quickly not to just "trust" that this will work- because lately almost every time I do add a stream of products (in product mode) it wipes the whole list of numbers out and loads the first one only- I'm starting to wonder if maybe this happened because I was in the wrong tab i.e. in search- that list of numbers would return an error (no hits) and that may be what happened to me- I'll monitor this next time and experiment...

Sheila, make sure your in the right tab- it defaults to search (wish I could choose what tab defaulted *hint* hint)... so it's possible your forgetting to change tabs?

I had tried it more than once.

I had to go back and find the right product code and then saved the module.  When I went to add another one and saved it only the first one showed.

Then I came here to report it, went back to try again and it stayed.

However I just went to the page in progress - with 3 products showing just fine - and tried the edit button on the Amazon module to see what would happen and in Edit - they show, but saving makes them gone - all but one.

So it seems there is a problem.

Hey Dusty, Jerrico already found the solution - thanks for that! That might have taken a long time to track otherwise!!

Apparently, you've accidentally entered your product ASIN in the search tab, instead of the ASIN tab. Fortunately, the search term "B0006ZVZ94" is still visible inside this module, so I could confirm Jerrico's idea. What happened is, that our module starts the search and actually finds this product with ASIN = B0006ZVZ94 .. and it replaces everything that has been entered manually. In case this happens again, you can still use the "Cancel" button of the module. By this it will revert to the state in which the module was opened.

No.  I added my numbers in the "enter product number" area.

I just tried it again to make sure - and I know that is how I added them before.

They are still disappearing.

I was adding them in the gallery setting and just tried the list setting and the same thing happened.  All gone but the first one.

Hm okay, I can't trace the bug, yet. Can you deliberately reproduce this error? If so, could you give me a step by step description how it's done? that would be really helpful!!

Always make sure, there's nothing written inside the search field when saving the module. Otherwise the auto-update function of the module will refresh the content based on this input.

I tried and still had trouble, so I deleted the module and began with a new one.

Everything seems to be okay now.

I'll let you know if I encounter more trouble.  It seemed that the original module I was trying to edit would not clear everything out when I deleted all the items.

I forgot to suggest just rebuilding the module, that's fixed things for me before.

It's likely that something gets permanently written in the html (modules just essentially load chunks of code into the page based on your choices and merge it with the rest of the pages overall HTML) like a bracket that won't disappear.

(our writers (day job) use a similar interface to write their copy (they use the same exact tinymce module in their site design), often the keyword checksum won't work because something the module added to the code but didn't remove (usually a bracket)... tis kinda like when memory isn't cleared when a program closes blocking that chunk of memory on your PC...)...

And at Earthlink, 98% of the time the solution was to reboot the computer (in this case it's reboot the module or update javascript). Two things I do before I try to "tech" anything else. Just go in and copy all the numbers on the right of the product in the module and... re-enter them...

I'm babbling.

I'll stop now.
