How are your Adsense earnings?

My adsense earnings have always been rather pitiful, and this month's earnings look to be about 1/4 of last month's (maybe I'll get lucky and get a few more cents this week...).   Last month's earnings were about 6/10 the level of my highest earnings, which still wasn't much.

My traffic stays fairly constant from month to month.   What's going on with Adsense?   Does my content need to be fresher?   Or is Adsense revenue dropping for many people?

It's obviously not a great way to make money right now (for me at least!).

I am making a bit more this month than last, and at this rate I may have my first payout from Adsense in about 8 months!

I seldom check on my earnings unless someone brings it up.  And I can't help you with any insight.  Sorry!

Thanks, Dustytoes :-)   I've never had an Adsense payment yet either, and at this rate it's going to take a LONG time!

I've noticed a drop this month and last in my Adsense earnings. Last month the clicks had increased on the month before, but the value of each click has decreased. I think there may be something going on with Adsense because this is happening on a lot of other sites. Also, for many of us, we've entered the summer period so traffic slows- who knows, maybe this is why adsense appear to be paying less per click. Hopefully it'll pick up again in the next couple of months.

Across all Adsense revenue earning properties my:

CPC has dropped from 13 cents to 11 cents,
number of clicks roughly the same (even with a 2 week period of Twitter promotion),
page RPM a little lower,

so far this month

but overall up about 25% on March and and 35% up on February.

As compared to other years these up's and down's are consistent with the time of year (except that the CPC does not usually vary that much).

Thanks, HollieT and humagaia,

It's good to hear what's going on with others too.  My highest month was also in Feb.  It sounds like my "earnings" have dropped more than average, but that there also has been a downward trend recently for many people.

I've been getting consistent pay outs, had a bit of a surge last month, haven't looked at May yet. I like Pam don't look at my stats I just enjoy the surprise of a Google Deposit into my account.

I haven't had a payout yet....of course if I wrote more that would probably change!   I've come to the conclusion that promoting products is much more productive (financially) than hoping for high Adsense earnings for me.

I'm still very confused - are we supposed to insert Adsense code into every article - if so - how?

No, Frances. Your pub-ID in your personal settings is sufficient.
