Hi,

I understand the direct inline text links and how they work with the VigLink program, but if you add an Amazon picture link using the Amazon gallery module will this automatically add your VigLink associate as well and thus be credited to you.??

thanks

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: Yes, if you did not enter an Amazon Associate ID and provided a valid VigLink account email in your settings.

Thanks Nightowl,

I have taken my Amazon associate number out of my profile and signed up with VigLink and put the e-mail address in the VigLink section.

I assume that I can only track clicks through VigLink now and not in the Wizzley module clicks section?

I still have my amazon associates number in my settings as well as VigLinks.  I would prefer to go directly through amazon rather than VigLinks for Amazon.  Is there any reason I should not be doing this?

I haven't set up VigLink yet but am thinking of doing it. Apparently if you don't make a lot of sales on Amazon it makes more sense to do Amazon through VigLink because they pay you a greater percentage.

"If you typically refer less than 111 products per month you will be better off using VigLink instead of your own Amazon Associates account!"

Thanks for the info.  I refer more than 111 products a month, so I will keep my amazon associates id in my settings.

I believe, that by leaving your Amazon affiliate number in you profile, it will cancel out the VigLink email address settings, therefore you will not receive any VigLink associate earnings.

My original post was answered by Nightowl (Wizzley Admin) and thats how I have interpreted it...

Yes, it cancels out the Amazon settings for VigLink, however, it does not cancel VigLink completely.  I still receive VigLink earnings for Ebay, Zazzle, etc.

Not sure if that is what you meant, just clarifying.

Okay, I think I've been getting this all wrong. I'm signed up for both Viglink and Amazon. What I gleaned from nightowls article that it's better to have Viglink rather than Amazon. Did I interpret that right?

I thought we didn't have to build links with Viglink, but now I'm understanding that we do. I thought they said all we had to do was type in the word and they would take care of the rest.

I'm overwhelmed and confused.

Brenda, if you want to link to a specific merchant or product you still need to put in a link. The benefit of Viglink is that you don't need to be an affiliate of that merchant in order to earn a commission for sales. The automatic link insertion you are thinking of does not work well in most cases.

Leave out your Amazon Associate ID if you refer less than 111 Amazon sales per month. If you generally sell more than that, put in your Amazon ID, but leave VigLink ID in for the other merchants.

Brenda, I thought this too at first, that the links would just be added.  Now I check on the sidebar of my articles (in edit) - click the Viglink merchants link - to find affiliates to link to that compliment my page.

Thank you Pam. No wonder I'm not making any money. Do you use both Amazon and Viglink?
