Oh boy...
I'm sorry for being naive here...I am sure this is my oversight but please tell me you all knew this and I am just a goofball.
Started seeing clicks with actual money attached on my Viglink. They were all ebay clicks and they were all 8 cents per click. So then I thought hmmm....uh oh.
You see, once I started using Viglink last month, I got excited because I did some articles where the ebay goods were "rare" and "collectible" etc. Thinking "cool, would love commission on these products!"
So sent an email off to Viglink and got a reply overnight...here it is:Thank you for your email. At this time, eBay works only on a CPC, or Cost Per Click basis. The revenue you earn per click is variable and changes based on the quality of the traffic driven to eBay.
Of course, I can't see if the rare and vintage products actually sold...but 8 cents for driving a potential $200 sale to Ebay? That ain't right...I even had ebay links for RVs/Motorhomes!! 8 cents?

Yup, I knew that. However, when it comes to Viglink your sales will be helping increase their CPM, but then again, others would be reducing it.

If that is the case, then I am enticing people away from buying my affiliate products (Amazon products) by showing them potentially cheaper versions/variety on ebay...not that I run the exact item in both places...but when I want to show a retro product, you can't find that on Amazon...but you can on Ebay.
So, and I mean no criticism to Viglink, am I misunderstanding or using them wrong? I'm beginning to wonder if Viglink is for me. I sell enough on Amazon to get 6.5% commission...vs 8 cents?
I just feel in my gut I am missing the picture on how to use Viglink to earn MORE without driving my traffic away from purchasing my affiliate products...which would absolutely make me earn LESS.

I only use Ebay links for products that can not be found anywhere else. I would never add an Ebay link that was competing with an Amazon link or 3rd party affiliate link I already had on the page. That being said, I do very well with Ebay. My EPN account is typically my second highest earning merchant each year.

And to add to what Janet said, Ebay is cost per click no matter who you go through because they changed to that system a while ago.

Thanks to both of you...I didn't realize that changed.
I haven't used Squidoo in ages, but their ebay modules are like that now, too? No commission? I know I had done some ebay modules on my lenses a year ago...

All of EPN is like that now whether you are on your on affiliate acct, Squidoo, Hubpages, VigLink, etc. However, on Squidoo, they do allocate the Ebay earnings to the lenses that made sales.

Wait, so we don't make commission on products we sell on ebay just a tiny per click charge for traffic? That's absolutely BS, I won't be using that module/links anymore- eBay seems to be hitting a major low, first they ripped off their actual sellers and keep adding to the fees but now they are not paying people for sales they generated? ridiculous. On HP I was earning a click fee AND a percentage of the sale they made... the click income was ok but nothing worth going through the trouble of making a link/ad for it.... what happened to affiliate income there?

...and again, I am new to this...but there is no way to know which companies offer cost per action (commissions) vs just cost per click?
The articles I do, I feel would risk losing affiliate sales by doing ebay modules (in my case). I might use some links sometimes that won't impact my affiliate income, but not sure Viglink is for me at this point in time (no offense! to each his own...)
