It's been a while since I was on here and I seem to vaguely remember seeing something about the number of words as to the number of ads you can run - is that right.

the other thing I want to ask is how many external links are allowed?

thanks

400 words min. text (8 ads)

After that, 50 words of unique, useful text per additional ad.

No hard and fast rule on the links. YOU know what a good article looks like.

(NOT like a link directory with descriptions.) Smile

Hi Annie, that is really the technical minimum and we highly recommend *not* using too many ads on one page. Before the recent Google updates - Penguin and Panda - that was not harmful, but now it definitively is.

I took a look at your "lenses for sale" on Squidoo in the price range between $10 and $15. They practically consist of about 95% ads. What would you do with such content, if you were a Quality Rater for Google? Don't underestimate the power of those raters! There are lots of them at work - and you can be sure: each single articles with that kind of content will get flagged by them. This will a) result in terminated traffic for your articles and b) in the long term in a penalty for Wizzley. So please write actually useful content.

@Simon so, Google does really have some actual people checking out random pages on the web? Not all algorithms then hmm...

I see what you mean but I must point out those particular price-ranged lenses are sold at that price BECAUSE they need content added -

You should really note I am NOT writing those sort of pages on Wizzley!  I think it is important to point that out -  Squidoo is a very different platform to Wizzley and please judge me on what I do here - I appreciate the advice.

Annie - I think Simon didn't see your note in the other thread, where you point out that your lenses need content.

However, for the benefit of other followers of this thread, he is absolutely correct about having too many links on a page. We have a few members (Not you, Annie!) who still don't understand the difference between articles and link directories.

Google wants on-page value, NOT filler text and pointers to OTHER pages with value.

fair enough Chef - I know what you mean, it's just that my reputation as an honest broker is important to me - don't worry I will do my best to do you proud on Wizzley.  I love it.
