Dear Wizzley authors,
now you can pick which articles will be shown as 'recommended' in the side bar of your pages. Check your page in edit mode and notice the new tab 'sidebar'. As of now, we can't rearrange the URLs. Enter them right away in your desired order.
Most importantly, try to think like your readers, and offer them relevant recommendations, not just simply your other articles. K?

That is so COOL! I was just wishing we could do that. I'll have to mull this over. But it's already showing just my articles...

Woot! I love this!
I've just experimented with my Mabon article. I only put in two relevant URLs (Lana's one about Autumn Equinox and my own about the Wheel of the Year). I was interested to see what happened if you didn't fill it up.
It puts the recommended ones at the top, in the order that you stated, then fills the rest with what Wizzley would have selected.
Nice one!
Edit: Is it better to stay within the actual category, even if a relevant article is elsewhere? For example, my article on Victorian post-mortem photography is in History > Victorian, while Pam's article on Victorian mourning rings is over in rings. They compliment each other, but aren't in the same place.
Should I link to her article or not?
Edit x 2: Is this the end of linking to articles within our articles? Sorry! Just getting a feel for the possibilities!

I experimented too with moving your article, Jo, on Mabon to the side. I love it. It is bigger and neater looking! Now THAT page is only showing links to your articles! HA. Too Funny. I wonder what happens if I change the category?

Yep. It kept the one I listed and changed all the others. Not that I minded having your articles linked, Jo. Especially the Mabon one. I just didn't really write about Wicca. I don't have a good fit for a category. It's about holidays and celebration AND religion. o well. Something to play with. It's interesting to see what comes up.

Awww! Thanks!
The way around it is to write more in the general 'religion' category. Then it'll show those instead.
The reason that 90% of the sub-categories in religion are showing my Wicca articles is because that's the only one being filled. You'll get a better selection once everyone else gets their arses in gear! ;)
That's what I was waffling on about over here.

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed that discussion. I never thought of myself as someone to write on religion. I'm hardly an expert.
As for the side bar - I'm having so much FUN with this!

Tell me about it! I was about to go to bed, but now I'm sitting here with one tab showing my pages and another with the Wizzley search function!
It's great finding other Wizzles that compliment the ones that I can edit. :D
I was just thinking about your Religion problem again. You could just go through all of the religious sub-categories and find more that you like. That will fill up the sidebar without recourse to my onslaught of Paganism.

Don't worry about that. I think I'm in a broader category somewhere between holiday and religion. At least that's what I intended. I found what I was looking for. (Your's is still at the top. The auto thingy didn't even put it up there) That's the neat thing. We can handpick articles that really go better with what our's is about than depending on the auto thingy to do it.

JoHarrington: 09/14/2012 - 07:43 PM Pam's article on Victorian mourning rings is over in rings.
Sorry! I meant Digby. >.<
And Lana, that's what I'm loving so much about it! I've just been borrowing one of Kinworm's articles out of another category to compliment mine. It really looks great and it's going to be much more intuitive when readers turn up.
But I really am wilting now. I'll definitely be playing more with tomorrow.
Night all!

Just a short notice: the order is currently not preserved: your selected ones are always first, but they are not necessarily in the order you've listed them inside the text field. It's not much of a big deal to keep the order - should we?
URLs of those articles may change. The sidebar feature will then update itself to the new URLs in real time :)
Apart from that, I think everything is discovered already :)

You can change your side bar content anytime in the page editor.

very cool- VERY. Wizzley is so much like a home in that there is democracy to a great extent here. Being able to choose those is a huge step in the innovative direction for sites like this. No other site lets or even trusts it's users to do that. You humble me. Much love for this feature. This will definately help me generate "groups" for articles i.e. if I publish an article that is an overview of all welders then have 5 welder specific reviews (welder and model/type) I can list them (up to how many is allowed of course) and they can go right to them (and they are highly relevant to one another)... will have to play with it, and will want to give some wiz-love-link-love to my friends with relevant articles :) (or anyone else)

I ran into one little problem with the new sidebar thing - or possibly, it's me.
I was just updating my wizzography and changed the category. I wanted to add some authors' wizzographies in the sidebar.
It told me it wasn't a valid url. I tried several times with different pages. The last one was http://wizzley.com/authors/sheilamarie/
Trying to add to my sidebar on
http://wizzley.com/my-life-so-far/

http://wizzley.com/authors/sheilamarie/ - is not an article, Lana. It's a profile page.
Only URLs of articles can be added to the side bar.
