Return of the miniature module ordering tool

In our extensive update about four months ago, we introduced some new features in our article editor, while we removed the tool for re-ordering (miniature) modules directly in the sidebar.

At the time, some authors were missing the miniature layout tool. And now, after getting familiarized with the new possibilities, we think it's time for reconsideration.

Who is still missing this tool and who would still like to have it back? The number of authors replying to this post will decide on this matter Smile.

Digital cheers,

Simon

I raised all three of my hands... does that count for 3 imaginary people I represent on wizzley? :) actually I can live without it but I have run into several occasions where it would have been much more efficient to have that bar- I never liked it being gone but the trade off of being able to insert mods was well worth it- but if we can have our cake and eat it too (and share with the rest of the class) then I'm on board with bring that beautiful technological efficiency back.

I don't mind it gone, but there are times when I felt it would be a lot easier to move things around if it were there.

I guess I never used it, because I don't know what you are talking about.

So I guess my vote is, I don't care.

That bar on the right side where you used to be able to move your modules around, remember they removed it when the update happened but gave us the feature of inserting directly into the article...

Just take a look Smile - it's back again! Some of our power users on Pagewizz were very excited about it, so we've heard enough voices speaking for it :)

Did you know, double clicking a miniature module scrolls the browser's viewport directly to the actual module on the article?

Have fun!

Awesome! I double clicked a module in that thing once and noticed that cool effect (I think I posted in the forum about it too I was soo excited)... hey Simon what say you add a module to throw a horizontal line in our articles to break up paragraphs? I do this manually every single article (take a look) but there should be a tool to make a line too- it's so basic :)

I see what you mean Jerrico. I think inline-styles are a good choice here. A long time ago, our spacer module had different background colors as an option, but we rarely saw it well integrated in articles, which is why we've finally removed this option.

you mean write a wizzle like I'm a programmer? isn't the whole point of using modules and such so you don't have to touch the code? If I were to do inlines for lines (haha in- lines) every time I need to add one I'd be in HTML all day...

:? )

I'm talking about a simple line, that covers the entire width of the text (and adjusts maybe for half moule size), a solution and safety mechanism would  be simply making the line almost invisible- like the lines you put around the table of contents, subtle but powerful to the brain for breaking paragraphs into bite sized chunks... don't add color choices, that's like myspacing it- people, mainly newbs will overuse it, but how can you overuse a pale grey line? can we compromise?

Jerrico - exactly how many horizontal lines do you create every day?  Laughing

LOL depends on how many articles I sculpt and paint :) some days I build up 10 articles and you know my articles aren't always short... if you look at my articles you'll see I make good use of lines to break up text, I'm even starting to generate my own table of contents from my own design so I can utilize the h3 tag inside the articles more to create lines matching the background without losing toc functionality...

If you look in my account I have over 178 drafts I'm chiseling away a bit each day...

ohhhhh you mean....

Doh!

It's untested, but I believe you can create a "repository" of lines in a draft article. From there you can simply copy-paste any kind of line directly into a text module of a real article. A comfortable workaround ... do you see what I mean?

how do I do that? (I'm not in edit mode)... or are you talking about storing lines and format in a wizzle that I never publish? I wrote a wizzle for that "Pimp My Wizzle" although it explains more than lines... but it's tedious to have to pull it up over and over.... I update it to keep my "designs" all in one place... but as you publish more it's harder to find the draft in the ocean of drafts :( if it's not something you want to add I'm sure you have a good reason, just thought I'd ask, no harm done :)

Oh!  I do like!   I used to use this a lot, but then got used to the other way.

I'll flit between them and see which I like more.

Hi Jerrico (and others),

If you use Firefox, install this cool addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clippings/ That way you only have to write the code once, save it as a clipping and with two clicks or so you can add it into your articles when needed ;-) SY

no idea, I refuse to use the Google Spy Tool called Chrome ;-( Firefox is very fast for me, no problems here. Perhaps you should try it again, install the latest version and don't use any fancy skins, keep addons to the minimum ect?

Hey Jerrico, if you're on Windows, you can also use a clipboard manager like CLCL. It's about the same like the FF add-on, just global - so it's not limited to the browser. It's really useful :) I use it all the time,
