I'm not sure if this is in the right spot, if not please forgive me. I had to check on my adsense account to make sure it was still there. Sheesh, had to reset the sign in password because I forgot which gmail account it was attached to.
Anyway, I hadn't signed in there since last April , and see that I've got $43. Cool, made a $1 yesterday even, all on 1 hub I abandoned.
They've got this little button that can be inserted into any page to have visitors recommend the page in google search.....but it's javascript.
Would that maybe be something to look at & maybe implement?

Hi Deb,
we're trying to stay away from adding more scripts, because we want to keep our legendary loading speed intact. Every little addition contributes to a gradual slow-down.
Can you try using html code for your promos?

Deb, could you give an example of such an article, which shows the button? On the one hand, sure, we try to keep the great loading speed, but on the other hand, if that's a Google tool, it might actually improve search results ... We'd love to take a closer look!

Hey Simon here is an example of the site which uses +1 button. You can see this at the bottom of the article on the right hand side. It is said to have an influence on search engine results of articles. http://ottopress.com/2011/adding-googles-1-button-to-wordpress-sites/

That's interesting and need to keep an eye out for a Wordpress Plugin with that incorporated!

Hi Paul, check out Natasha's link, I think the article is about putting the button on Wordpress websites.
But if you log into your Adsense account, you will see the option to get the code & use it anywhere you like that you can insert javascript.

I noticed that the article's comments are complaining that it only works if you're logged into your gmail account. That's not so different than the FB or Twitter buttons......when you click them, you have to log into those accounts.

It is certainly interesting and it is even rolled out in google.com search results (I mean in the US). If you do any search on google.com you will see the +1 button next to every page. And suppose if I +1 any article, then any of my friend whom I am connected with on buzz or other google properties will see the articles higher and will also see that I have liked this article.
It is similar to facebook likes as in facebook you see your friends recommendation and likes first.

Well, you are so right. The +1 button is in a way competing with facebook likes. But whether we like it or not we will have to use it if it majorly impacts seach engine results on google.
Also, this will give a rise to new kind of spam. People will be hired to +1 their article. And services like twiends which gets you fake facebook likes will also include this service.

Yeah, it's a potential threat for spamming and misuse ... we'll see how Google manages that. If it really impacts the search results, they must have a really great way of protecting it from artificial clicks ...

Simon, don't you think Google is in a way indirectly promoting buzz and it's other google properties. Take a look at what the official page says:
Your +1’s are stored in a new tab on your Google profile. You can show your +1’s tab to the world, or keep it private and just use it to personally manage the ever-expanding record of things you love around the web.
In order to +1 things, you first need a public Google profile. This helps people see who recommended that tasty recipe or great campsite. When you create a profile, it's visible to anyone and connections with your email address can easily find it.
If the +1 button is only limited to the email contacts I don't think it will make much of a difference. Anyways, Google has stated that it will make an impact on search results and I have a feeling spammers will find some way or the other to misuse this.

Do you all know that the +1 button is now on Giants' lenses on Squidoo? As of last night, I think.

I believe the +1 button is an absolute must, just like a Facebook like or share. As Google and Bing have indicated they are using social factors as an influence to lensrank, I believe this just becomes another one of those social factors that will make its way into the Google algorithm. I only see a downside if webpages don't have the button.
