Five Things I like about Wizzley....

There is just so much I like about Wizzley

I thought I'd start a list in case people haven't found all the nice bits I've found so far.  I thought I'd try a thread where we said five things we liked about Wizzley

1. excellent communication by all the Moderators - thank you guys!
2. the level of the responsiveness - I asked for comment moderation and got it PDQ!
3. the ability to move the modules around within the page without having to exit the module I'm currently editing - sooooooo efficient!  I love it!
4. the messages top left in top line menu which tell me when somebody has liked me or I've got a comment - that really helps with the social interaction - and that's so important for any site when it's starting off (and for later on too!)
5. The blue arrow at the bottom right of the page which scoots you back up the top in double quick time.  My scrolling finger thanks you.

I've got lots more but I thought I'd let others have a go first!

Seriously though, there's just so much to like. Some of what I like:

Being able to see all your comments in one list

The clean and simple look

The fact that this place is just buzzing

That it is just soo quick to make a page (and we all know how long my pages can be!)

The formatting toolbar - bliss!

I love the feature "Latest Comments" in the pull-down menu of "Pages".

You can quickly check on ALL comments.

If you want to check on responses to your comments on other authors' pages, you don't even have to subscribe to a comment thread anymore - just look at the list, every once in a while.

Reduces my inbox load. Nice.

The editor is easy to use and FAST. I really like the streamlined appearance of our wizzes (pages for Katherine ). 

I'm impressed with how quickly my wizz was indexed and is showing up in SERPs. Woo hoo!

Just published my first page and am extremely impressed by how quickly and smoothly it all went.

By the way, can anyone tell me how many outward bound links to other articles we're allowed. My page is a sort of precis of five Squidoo lenses with links to each. I don't want to get my wrist slapped if that's not the done thing.

we fully support linking out to Squidoo lenses. No problem at all.

What we don't like is if someone has very little original content (less than 400 words) but a ton of links and excessive advertising. We will soon spell out better rules on that point.

I am really pleased that my pages are showing up on Google so quickly, and getting Google traffic already.  You guys are doing an awesome job.  :)  Glad to be on this site.

One of my favorite things is the great folks Wizzley is attracting!

and the 400 word requirement will keep quality up high!  (I continually get sent back to work- but it's done so well, that I don't feel reprimanded - I just get back in and work some more! - very cool)

The future is bright for Wizzley!   I need sunglasses!

The 400 word limit is really easy for me as I tend to write a lot :)  My issue is that I am not sure how long is acceptable as I have seen short pages and long ones....trying to figure out what's acceptable :)

Hi Kathy - as you indicate 400 words is our minimum.  Ezinearticles.com and other authority sites switched to this limit following Google's 2011 algorith change.

We have not set a maximum limit yet, I doubt whether we will.

Some points to consider:

1. Some things need more words to explain because of their complexity or the richness of the concept

2. Stories tend to be longer than normal articles because you have to do some context setting before you get into the meat of the story - and people will tolerate longer articles that are stories because they get hooked on the personal element (and are innately curious)

3. Articles that are too long will not get read - we are all time-poor (and you will end up with superficial comments)

4. Experienced writers feel when an article is getting too long (particulary when they come to edit it) - if this feeling occurs, think about breaking it into two (or three articles) and keep your original article focused on one main point.

5. People appreciate tightly focused and coherent articles and will revisit.

6. Articles that feel too long to the reader are often articles that have not been digested by the writer properly - just put out there.  You can tell the sculptured articles from the thrown-together ones quite easily.

A general principle is to write the length that you think is needed to make your point (s), but assess when you finish - edit, refine, re-work and split as appropriate.  Waffle always seems longer than the actual word count (I developed this sense from assessing thousands upon thousands of student assignments at Uni).

Woops Kathy - I forgot to thank your for your very positive feedback, which is what I first set out to do, but then got hooked on your article length issue.  Thanks heaps - we really appreciate this feedback.  Hope you continue to contribute and enjoy Wizzley.  Ron P.

Thanks Ron...you explained article length quite well, at least for me :)

I have a WIP (or draft) that I started days ago, and now with the explanation I feel OK to finish it. 

I shouldn't have a problem with getting to 400 words. My problem is keeping it under 1000. I can hardly write a blog in only 400 words. 

I like the Zazzle module with the abilitly to add one larger picture instead of the 3 or 6 count, and I just read a post by Paula "Patriotism" where she has put the Zazzle picture to the side of her writing - I must see if I can figure that out because it looked great!

I do wish there were "invitations" in the Zazzle list of products for the modules.

This place is easy to navigate and I love the clean look of the pages.  Great job!

Pam - look on our help page under Create Pages/Edit Modules...how you can use the arrows in the module tool bar to resize modules and place them next to each other on your page, i.e. putting a text module next to a Zazzle module.

Re: "Invitations" - I've sent an update request to our German brain tank.

Just finished my first wizzle ... wizzlet ... wizzpage ... you know. Here's what I love!

1. The TWO COLUMN format! Beautiful and so easy to use! Makes it so simple to create a lovely flow without gaping spaces on either side.

2. Super simple to move modules around independently! And the little layout thumbnail - brilliant!

3. The Zazzle module!

4. Joining a fan club with a single click.

5. Notifications at the top of whatever page I'm on.

6. The rotating wizzles on the front page instead of a static view.

I'm impressed with the clean, simple looks of the site. 

Love how quick and easy it is to create a page. 

Easy to comment and I like the notifications at the top of the page.
