How about the Spam button on Comments?

I received a comment spam. Since I always activate a comment moderation, this was fortunately prevented from publishing.

I wonder if there should be a "Mark as spam" button next to "Delete?" Maybe it would allow to block such spammers in the future?

Oh, if anybody is interested, the comment (of course, I deleted the link) was:

recommend this to your friends and family too

Hey Doc,

admin gets notified of all deleted comments. If it's spam from a member, we delete the account. If it comes from outside, we watch for patterns and then, if appropriate, block certain IPs.

I am going to delete some comments from an author (Jerrico), but it is not spam.

We have collaborated on an article which includes the comments, and to prevent duplication I shall be removing the originals.

PLEASE DO NOT DELETE HIS ACCOUNT.

But it could spawn another article ;)

Thanks for the explanation Chef. I just wanted to know that you monitor spam.

Chaz - not all deleted comments are spam. Some people may have left duplicate comments by mistake, and the page author has then deleted one of them. Other times, newbies try to keep their dashboards *clean* without realizing that this affects their on-page comments as well.

In other words, we don't delete accounts because of deleted comments. We always investigate first, if there's a pattern of sorts. Moreover, we always see the text of those deleted comments in our admin mail notifications, and spam comments are of course easy to recognize.

Now back to my movie (hunger games, I don't know how it got on my computer...hehe)
