Pinterest "Rich Pins" - Promote your best articles

We have just incorporated a few additional tags that should qualify your articles to appear as article type "rich pins" on Pinterest.

It seems however, that you need to apply for these rich pins on a case-by-case basis. As a first step, the page needs to validate here:

https://developers.pinterest.com/rich_pins/validator/

The preview image doesn't get displayed unless it has already been pinned before, but for the purpose of validation this is not necessary. Also, some of the fields are optional, so no need to worry about them as long as you get a green check mark.

Then, as a next step, you can apply to get them on Pinterest by clicking on the link next to the validation confirmation. We haven't actually tried doing that, so if any of you are interested to submit a couple of your best pages please let us know how it goes.

This could open up some exciting possibilities and I can't wait to hear about your experiences with this feature!

Thank-you very.  The renewed ability to pin using the thumbnail image is greatly appreciated. I recommend that more people add text to the thumbnail so that if there are repins, the title of the article does not get edited out by repinners for some reason.

I just tried both ways of pinning the article - the regular way and the enriched article way. The regular way worked fine and my intended pinnable thumbnail is up and the article is linked and everything works fine.

I am now waiting for approval of the other article I tried using enriched article way. This is interesting. I had never heard of rich pins before so I just read up on them.  The rich pin, if I understood correctly, is only for the writer of the articles as interested readers will pin our articles the regular way. That means that there may be two different forms of our pins floating around on pinterest - rich pins we pin ourselves and regular pins that readers pin on their own.

Thanks so much for taking care of the thumbnail issue. I am, once more, a happy pinner.

This all seems very exciting!  I'll try it out too.

And like Sheri, I'm thrilled about the ability to pin our thumbnails again!

I too have applied for one of the rich pins, but i just want to know how is it going to help us out? Will it lead to more of traffic generation? I mean what exactly is the idea behind doing so, rather than just pinning posts in regular way?

I'm going to call in the eight-year-old from across the street to sort this out because I haven't got a clue what's going on here.

Don't worry, Rupert, I'm not sure what they're talking about either :)

Can anyone tell me if this is easy enough to do using pins from a website?
