Ian Lurie's blog, Conversation Marketing, published a very interesting post on Holiday Shopping today.

Here's an excerpt:

Know the (Overall) Best Shopping Days Online

Experts expect the following to be the biggest online shopping dates of the 2012 holiday season (ranked by total revenue):

  1. Monday, November 26 (Cyber Monday)
  2. Monday, December 3
  3. Monday, December 10 (Green Monday)
  4. Tuesday, November 27
  5. Tuesday, December 4
  6. Monday, December 17 (Free Shipping Day)
  7. Tuesday, December 11
  8. Friday, November 30
  9. Thursday, December 6
  10. Thursday, December 13

Most people have heard of Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) and Cyber Monday (the following Monday), but Green Monday and Free Shipping Day are two powerful, albeit less renowned, sales dates.

Green Monday is two Mondays before Christmas. eBay named it in 2007 because they noticed significant sales spikes on their site that day.

Free Shipping Day is the last day most online retailers will guarantee that their shipments will reach customers’ doorsteps by Christmas Day.

Thanks for the heads up. I went to the full post and found a free downloadable book on internet marketing. I read all I can find (for free). Have yet to figure out how and what to sell. Thanks goodness not everyone is like me looking only for free stuff.

I went back to look at last years journal where I kept track daily of my Zazzle sales.

I know this is different than for those who are actually shopping for gifts, since my sales would mainly be be ornaments and cards, (I do sell gifts items but sell very few) etc., and this is what I found.

Cyber Monday brought very good sales.

Green Monday was also very good, although not as good as Cyber Monday.

Free shipping day is hard to figure but my sales were pathetic for the entire week leading up to Christmas.

Now I am going to read the article.  Thanks.
