Free MOBA Games - A List Of The Best MOBA Games

No list of free MOBA games would be complete without the MOBA game that is dominating them all, League of Legends. Nobody can deny the insane numbers of users and play hours that this MOBA game is racking up, now becoming the most played video game in the world.

Just recently Riot announced that League of Legends has 27 million daily players (and no there isn't a typo here). This comes together for a grand total of 67 players every month, these aren't accounts they are users that have logged in to play.

So what is all the fuss about in League of Legends? I find it that it's the reduced learning curve compared to other MOBA games. In comparison to Dota 2 the learning curve has a huge difference and add the end of the day I don't consider the end level of depth that different. This means the game has best of both worlds for both casual players and ones seeking to go professional (yes League of Legends is potentially career just look at Ocelote's reddit AMA).

No list of MOBA games would be complete with Dota 2, a game that is often overshadowed by League of Legends but is a great game in it's own right. Having fallen in love with the original Dota it was easy for me to pick up the sequel.

Not everybody will have the same experience though and it's hard to recommend the game as your first multiplayer online battle arena experience but if you want something with more depth and less first time players to the genre I'd recommend Dota 2 without a doubt.

One of the most notable aspects that make the game much harder to first learn in my experience is the larger map which does encourage players to be able to play on their own merits rather than relying on the rest of the team.

Prime World is one of the more recent additions to the MOBA game genre and it's interesting mixture of MOBA and building strategy really got me hooked. I love the fact that the game took the growing genre but really sent it down a new direction.

The game throws you into a war of magic and technology with elements of RPG at the core of the overall experience. What really attracted me into the game is the large number of game modes (8 at the moment) and the mixture of kingdom building and MOBA.

If you've played previous MOBA games you'll know that different game modes are quite the rarity and the fact that Prime World has so many diverse options makes it a clear winner in my book.

Crazy MOBA Online is definitely a MOBA game that most followers of the genre probably haven't heard of. I was originally drawn to the game because I was looking for a browser based alternative to League of Legends and I was blown away by the quality.

This quality is first obvious when you load up the game and see the graphic quality you won't believe it's going to run in your browser but it does (and well might I add).

Customisation isn't shy either with more depth then what I expected to see.  Most notably is the item system that the game uses for customisation outside the gameplay, which apart from League of Legends not many MOBAs have used this external customisation.

For browser based MOBAs, Crazy MOBA Online is my top pick.
