Halloween Decorations with a Disney Twist

by blackspanielgallery

Halloween decorations do not have to be too scary for young children. Just use Disney decorations featuring Mickey and Minnie and you will have a great, child friendly Halloween.

t is important to make small children not be afraid, so scaring them is not a good way to go even if it is at Halloween. Halloween should be scary for older children and adults, it is what is expected, but scaring a small child can lead to nightmares. Perhaps a fun filled Halloween would suit very young children better. And what better way to achieve this than to add Mickey Mouse and a Disney theme to the activities.

Disney Halloween Lights

Imagine Mickey Mouse’s face in orange, and glowing from a string of lights.  Well, this is exactly what is available, orange Mickey Mouse light strings.  Orange is a color typically associated with Halloween, since Jack O Lanterns are made from pumpkins.  So, add a few Mickey Mouse Halloween light strings to your decorating scheme.  It gives the illusion that Mickey is a pumpkin without being overly scary.

Mickey Your Pumpkin

Whether it is the pumpkin in which the child carries candy obtained trick or treating, or is the pumpkin from which candy is given out, mouse ears can make it friendlier to very young children.

Add an Inflatable to the Lawn

Make your lawn inviting so small children will approach for candy with joy and enthusiasm.  Use an inflatable decoration with Mickey and Minnie Mouse as vampires, but not real scary vampires.  There is also a pumpkin to add color.  This would make an excellent addition to your decorations on Halloween.

Another outstanding choice for a Disney Halloween inflatable is a large Mickey Mouse figure standing and holding a pumpkin.  This might look great next to a walk where the children can see Mickey up close, and maybe even touch him.

The Cupcake Stand

Halloween Treats

Have a cupcake stand with Mickey on top, and place cupcakes iced with orange and black icing in alternate positions.  Add orange pumpkin picks to those iced in black, and Mickey picks to those iced in orange.  This will give each cupcake both Halloween colors, orange and black.

The cupcake stand and the picks, both pumpkin and Mickey Mouse, can be reused to help make the children happy on Thanksgiving.  In fact, you can even use the same color scheme for Thanksgiving for the icing used on the cupcakes.

Add Greeters to the Door

Use Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse door greeters just outside your door, or inside if you prefer.  Mickey Mouse is dressed as a vampire, and Minnie Mouse is dressed as a witch.  Even though vampires and witches can be scary, the Mickey and Minnie greeters are certainly not.
