Healthy sleeping gadgets

by DrDarko

Getting just one hour less sleep per night than needed will influence your daytime performance, thinking, and mood. These gadgets can help you meet your healthy sleep time.

Sleep is a natural part of our life. An average person will spend almost one third of the entire lifetime sleeping. If our sleep pattern gets disturbed for any reason, we will certainly notice the difference.

Healthy sleeping is necessary for a long and healthy life. One research (published in Perspectives in Biological Medicine, 41: 359–390) determined that rats deprived of sleep die within two to three weeks. Even if you manage to get by with not enough sleep, you will definitely experience difficulty concentrating, loss of energy, fatigue and lethargy.

Not getting enough healthy sleep can even be deadly. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in United States, about 100,000 automobile crashes each year result from drivers who were “asleep at the wheel.”

Whenever possible, we should try to get maximum amount of healthy sleep from our time in bed. Some gadgets can help ensure that your sleep is as long and as pleasant as possible.

Sound Conditioner

Sound conditioner is a simple gadget that will mask those problematic and strange noises that keep you awake at night. By generating white noise, this gadget creates a soothing consistent sound conditioned environment for a good night sleep.

This sound conditioner operates mechanically rather than electronically, which makes it much more reliable than any device using pre-recorded white noise sounds. It operates on normal household current so you do not have to worry about any batteries.

The Marac SleepMate Electro-Mechanical Sound Conditioner will easily drown out typical city background noises. If you have loud and obnoxious neighbors, or the sounds of vehicles disturb your sleep at night, this is a perfect solution. It will even help you with your snoring spouse.

Honeywell HCM-6009 Humidifier

Lack of moisture can dry your nasal passages and cause Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a disorder in which breathing is interrupted during sleep. This can cause temporary drops in blood oxygen during the night and increases in carbon dioxide levels, which all leads to frequent partial arousals from sleep. Those frequent arousals result in ineffective sleep and loud snoring.

A good humidifier will help you to minimize these symptoms. Honeywell's HCM-6009 humidifier is designed for rooms up to 2300 square feet and runs up to 24 hours on one filling. It introduces moisture to your home and helps you avoid dry skin, chapped lips, and dry nasal passages.

This wheeled gadget works perfectly, keeps your house humidity at the level you want and turns on only when needed keeping your electricity bill low. In addition, this gadget’s air filter traps dust, dirt and pollen ensuring your peaceful and healthy sleep.

Philips Hf3470/60 Wake-up Light

After a good and healthy night sleep, you will want to wake up without the usual rush and screaming alarm clock. This interesting gadget provides a pleasant and natural way to wake up in the morning. It wakes you up by simulating sunrise. Light gradually increases for 30 minutes before your alarm time and prepares your body to wake up starting your day feeling more energetic.

This wake-up light lets you select the light intensity that best suits your personal preferences. You can choose to hear a natural sound or your selected FM radio station at your set wake-up time. Selected sound starts quietly and it will take 90 seconds to reach your configured full volume.

If you place this gadget within a couple feet of your head, at alarm time, you will be convinced that the sun has risen and you will love waking up to the natural sound of chirping birds or your favorite radio station. By using this wake-up light, you will never again feel miserable for awakening to dark surroundings and harsh alarm noise.

It is a common misconception that you need less sleep as you grow older. Adults don’t need less sleep, but unfortunately, they often get less sleep. Due to our environment and increased stress levels, many older people have fragile sleep and wake up more often during the night.

These three healthy sleeping gadgets will make you sleep longer, deeper and healthier.

Do you sleep well at night?

I sleep like a baby and love Love LOVE the sleepmate. I tried it two years ago and haven't been without it since. I started when I had to travel and be away from home for long periods of time, it was difficult to sleep in a strange environment, the sleep mate was my cure and now won't leave home without it. Thanks, Katie

The wake up light sounds ideal and far better than having an alarm clock waking you in the darkness!
