Honey, Will You Pick Up some Tide for Me
by samsons1
A loving spouse is always looking for little ways to show their love by doing little deeds and errands without complaint to compliment and bond their relationship.
Save Your Sweet Wife a Trip to the Store...
The idea for this article came to me Sunday morning while sitting in church with my wife and listening to our pastor as he expounded on the difficulties he had recently at the local grocery store when ask by his loving wife to simple pick up some Tide detergent for the washing of the families clothing. We’ve all done that, haven’t we? Ask our spouse to pick up something at the store, I mean I’m out anyway and on the way home I past two or three stores, so would I be a ‘dear’ and help ‘my honey’ just this once by picking up some Tide. Now, how difficult could that be? I know that with children and pets and playing and rolling on the ground, one’s clothes could get soiled and need to be cleaned, you know. In the washer with water and soap suds and that thing that goes up and down and turns this way and that. So my wife just realized she is out of soap detergent and would like for me to save her a trip and just stop and pick up some Tide for her.
Does your spouse ever ask for help?
Every thing was going in my favor--
I was thrilled to be a help. I was doing my part as a loving husband, helping my wife in her distress. You know, my head was beginning to swell a little and I felt that little grin that comes on your face with the feeling of accomplishment and all, you know what I mean. The traffic was lite about this time and the red lights all seemed to be working in my favor, so I turned right into that parking lot with that silly little grin on my face, finding a parking place right up near the front so I didn’t have to walk all the way across the parking lot. Parked, got out and casually strolled toward the main entrance humming a familiar tune and smiling at everyone like, I’m helping my wife. She needed me to help her with the laundry. So I’m stopping at the store for her and now I’m going inside to get her Tide.
How can there be so many...
Being ‘all’ man I knew I would be able to find the laundry soap, I had found chips on another occasion so I smiled at the greeter as I passed and headed for the back of the store. I was so proud of myself. I didn’t even have to write myself a note. I could remember, get some Tide, I mean, how difficult is that. And then I turned the corner, I passed the Cheer and the Bold, the Ajax and the Gain and there it is, I believe, almost there, yes, the Tide… my jaw hit the floor. Oh, I saw the Tide alright. New Ultra Tide Powder, Dye and Perfume-Free Tide, Tide Stain Release, Tide to Go, Tide Washing Machine Cleaner, Tide Laundry Care Accessories, as well as Liquid Tide, Tide with Bleach and even Tide with Febreze… are you kidding me. When I was growing up there was one Tide and it 'did it all’, or was that some other brand. But now I was in a dilemma, just what did my wife mean when she ask me to pick up some Tide for her?
So, guess how I came out of this one, ‘smelling like a rose’ (pun intended). I got her one of each…

Yes, this is a very friendly place. You'll really enjoy it I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing your work here and thanks for the quick 'comeback'...
Thank you so much 2uesday for responding. Shopping is not what it used to be! One almost needs a college degree to decipher what is the best choice and what is my wife's preference.
When I saw your name I just wondered, if you might also be a 'friend' on HubPages...
Hi Ethel, good to see you also, and in response to your latest response. I just try to do as I'm told...

Ugh, we've all experienced this one. TOO MANY CHOICES. I do occasional errands for my husband, but even more often I go shopping for my mother who can no longer drive.
thanks so much Dusty. Having left my cell phone in the car, and not wanting to appear as if I didn't know what I was doing, I simply decided to 'play it safe'...
I can relate for sure. I often buy the wrong product just because I don't read the label closely enough. Holy cow.
