Tips to help you speed up network, Web browsing and your Internet connection.

Make Your Internet Connection Faster

Nothing is as frustrating as slow Internet connection. Even if you have the best hardware, you will not enjoy your computer if your network and Web browser are slow. Sometimes the only way to speed up network is to upgrade your broadband plan, but very often there is a lot you can do to make your Internet faster. Here are some tips on how to speed up network and Web browsing for free.

1. Remove My Network Places shortcuts

The first thing you should do to speed up network is remove all shortcuts from My Network Places. Windows creates these shortcuts automatically and they are not really needed. Moreover, they often become invalid, but Windows still keeps searching for them even if they are not shared anymore. To get rid of these invalid shortcuts, simply highlight them and hit the Delete button on your keyboard.

2. Reset your network

If all of a sudden your Internet becomes slow, you should reset your network and reboot your wireless router. To do that, simply disconnect from the Internet and switch off your computer. Then switch off your router and switch in on again immediately. Wait for the router to connect to the Internet and switch your PC on. This should speed up network and browsing.

3. Check if your router is conflicting with your phone

Sometimes your network can become slow because your phone is conflicting with your router. Basically, cordless phones sometimes use the same frequency as wireless routers, so your Internet can slow down every time you use your phone. Check your phone and if it uses the 900Mhz frequency, then everything should be OK. However, if your phone is using 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz, then it may be causing problems with your router. To fix it, either try moving the phone away from the router, or purchase a different phone for your house.

4. Upgrade your router's firmware

Another way to speed up network is to upgrade your router's firmware. Some routers can become slow when their firmware gets outdated. That's why it's always a good idea to go to your router manufacturer's website and download the latest firmware version for your model.

5. Perform PC maintenance

Even if you have a fast broadband plan, everything will be slow if your computer is slow. That's why you should keep it in good shape and perform regular PC maintenance. You will be amazed, but you can speed up network by simply deleting temporary files, defragmenting your hard drive and running a registry cleaner.

These simple tips will help you speed up network and make browsing the Web faster and more enjoyable.
