Intrapreneurs are dreamers who make their dream a reality.They take responsibility for creating innovation within the organization. Intrapreneurs finds out how to turn an idea into a profitable one. They are also known as corporate heroes as they work within the framework of the organization. Companies are hugely benefited by ideas put forth by Intrapreneurs as it improves the product and services of the company and the brand value of the company increases.

Intrapreneurs are very much like entrepreneur but they are different in the sense that they don't start their own venture. There are certain skill sets required to be an intrapreneur. Lets look at the important intrapreneur skills and check if you have them in you.

  • Innovator:
    An intrapreneur should always be an innovator.He should be creative and work within the framework of the organization.
  • Visionary:
    An intrapreneur is a dreamer who visualizes change and works against all odds to bring about the change.He is a visionary leader.
  • Knowledgeable:
    An intrapreneur should be knowledgeable and should thoroughly understand the working of the organization.This knowledge would help him in analyzing the environment in which he has to operate.
  • Flexibility:
    Intrapreneur should be flexible.If an idea needs some change, he should be ready to incorporate it.
  • Encourage Team Work:
    An intrapreneur cannot work alone.To get optimum results, he should get the whole team to work with him.
  • Diplomatic:
    An intrapreneur should be a good diplomat.He should safeguard everyone’s interest and try to find an amicable solution.
  • Open to Discussion & Ideas:
    Intrapreneurs should be open to new ideas.He should promote open discussions within the team.More the openness in the team, more the chances of the successful implementation of the idea.
  • Motivator:
    He should be able to motivate his team and always keep them together.He should be able to keep their enthusiasm and focus on work.
  • Self-Motivated:
    To keep others motivated, he has to be motivated himself.An intrapreneur should always be self motivated and work towards achieving his goal.
  • Self-Confident:
    An intrapreneur should be self-confident.He should believe in himself and be optimistic about the success of his ideas.
  • Courageous:
    There is a element of risk involved in any new idea.An intrapreneur should be bold and courageous and should be ready to take the risk.
  • Ability to Manipulate the System:
    Though intrapreneurs dislike the system but they learn to manipulate it.They work out the problem in the system and use it to their advantage.
  • Patient:
    An intrapreneur should be patient.He should not act in a haste and should be willing to compromise.
  • Customer Oriented:
    He should be customer oriented.His ideas should focus on improving the end product or service for the benefit of the customer.
  • Works Within Hierarchy:
    Unlike entrepreneur, Intrapreneurs always works within the rules of the organization.He does not oppose or rebels against the top management but seeks their approval for the implementation of his ideas.
  • Set Realistic Goals:
    An intrapreneur always set realistic goals.He sets goals which are difficult and challenging but achievable.Also, he selects such goals whose success can be easily measured.
  • High Energy Level:
    An intrapreneur should be ready to put in long hours of work, for which his energy level should be high.
