Americans Looking For Jobs In Australia
Two popular options
The truth is there are plenty of jobs in Australia for Americans looking for work. Let's look at the two most popular options:
- Unskilled Workers - A Working Holiday. Fruit pickers are in high demand throughout the year in most regions of Australia. It's a great way to Travel / Work In Australia by following the Harvest Trail but make sure you have a 12 month Working Holiday Visa before you leave home. You can even extend this to 2 years by agreeing to work another 3 months picking fruit or vegetables. This is a great option for young people with a sense of adventure who want to experience the natural wonders that Australia has on offer. You need to be aged between 18 and 30 years of age to apply. If you fit into this category, the first step is to fill out a Quick Visa Assessment. (It's f.ree).
- Skilled Workers. Tradespeople, Nurses and Doctors and many other skilled professions are also in very high demand in Australia (see more detailed list below) and if you are in this category you will also require a Skilled Workers Visa Assessment completed, and a visa issued before departing America.
The list below the images of the books, is some of the categories and eligible professions considered by Australian Immigration, for a Skilled Workers visa and is current at the time of writing this article. How Do You Know There Are Plenty Of Jobs For Americans In Australia?
How do I know that there is plenty of work available in Australia for Americans? That's a good question and I'm glad you asked. In regard to unskilled labor - I have personally worked in many regions of Australia and I am the Author of an ebook titled: Work In Australia - Follow The Harvest Trail. If you are interested, you can take a look at it by clicking the first blue link at the top of this page where it says: 'Travel / Work In Australia.'
Not only have I worked in many different areas of the country including Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, I also met a man who has spent 20 years of his life on the road working on the Harvest Trail and in other unskilled work.
I had a wonderful time talking to him about the different kind of jobs he had been employed in over the years. He recalled how he loved working for a catering business because he and his mates got to keep all the left over food and beverages! He was certainly a character. His advice in regards to picking fruit was to stay clear of the 'heavy stuff', and get work on the strawberry and blueberry farms. He said it's easy, and it is if you don't mind a little bit of physical work in the outdoors.
Where To Work In Australia
You will probably be spoiled for choice when it comes to a location to work in Australia, especially if you intend working on the Harvest Trail where you will find work anywhere between Broome in the North of Western Australia through to Hobart in the South of Tasmania.
It is important to remember that Australia is a huge landscape with many different climate zones from tropical to minus degrees Celcius in winter. The Southern states are generally much cooler, particularly Tasmania.

They are just fabulous Kingnet, although I have only been to Daydream Island and Long Island near Airlie Beach, Queensland. Another one you might like to investigate is Orpheus Island near Townsville in North Queensland. I heard a whisper that it is one of the best kept secrets ;)
I was born in NZ and the weather in the North of the North Island is not too chilly. The 'Bay of Islands' is in this area and they are just amazing! There are also some beautiful islands around the coastline of Australia where I now live, especially on the Great Barrier Reef. A popular place to access the islands is from Airlie Beach in Queensland. A spectacular part of the world too! Hope you make it down here one day, I'm sure you would love it :)
Some great advice here, thank you! Enjoyed the video too, really gives me a good impression on what it's like to work on a vineyard in Australia. Thanks again.
