Okay, so what makes the KidKraft Lego table so great? Everyone knows what Lego is and how it is a toy that is universally loved by boys and girls of all ages. I didn’t stop building with Lego bricks until I was well into my teens and my younger brother continued the trend. My mother hung on to our collection of Lego bricks until a couple of years ago when she gave them to my cousin’s little boy. How many toys can you name that have that sort of durability and universal appeal?

The main problem with Lego is that it can be difficult to store neatly and that once you’ve got past the basic few brick building stage, you really need a stable base on which to build your creations. This is where a legos table comes in. The KidKraft activity table includes a nice big (25 x 23 inches) play board which is compatible with lego bricks (meaning you can snap them straight onto the board) and includes plenty of storage space under the board to hide away the lego bricks when they’re not being played with.

For extra fun, the play surface can be flipped over to reveal a smooth service decorated with a countryside scene that is ideal for setting up train tracks. The table even comes with a 30-piece wooden train set and 200 lego-compatible building blocks.

My daughter is still a little young for playing with lego bricks but what I think is great about this Kidcraft Lego table is that it is also compatible with larger duplo style bricks that are easier for toddlers to manipulate. This makes it great for kids around the age of two who are just learning how to build with  duplo type building bricks and because you can just switch to lego at a later stage, there is no need to buy two different products.

I love the fact that the table is big enough for a few kids to play together around it as my little girl often has her two cousins over to play (one the same age and one aged 5). As the little ones approach their second birthday I think the Kidkraft lego activity table will make a great toy that the two toddlers and the older child can enjoy playing at together.

Another big plus for me as a parent is that the kidkraft 2 in 1 activity table with board is not ugly! There are so many horribly looking plastic contraptions out there for toddlers that it is really refreshing to find a nice simple wooden activity table that will fit into our home without looking like something out of the circus. There are way too many plastic activity tables out there with lights and all kinds of crazy accessories and I really think they take the fun out of play when kids are so naturally creative on their own.

In summary, I think the KidKraft Lego Compatible 2 in 1 Activity Table is a great value activity table for the price, especially considering that a train set and Lego-type bricks are included. One thing I am going to do is invest in some plastic storage bins to keep under the table as the design does mean that it is difficult to take the bricks out from under the play surface when in use. There are sturdier better quality lego activity tables out there but most of them are well out of my budget.  The Kid Kraft train table is a nice addition too and I’m sure my daughter and her friends will get many hours of fun play out of this toy.
