Kids Crafts at Michaels Craft Stores

The Michaels Kids Club is held in Michaels stores nationwide each Saturday. Here are the specifics:

• Fee:  $2 per child
• Age:  3 and older
• Time:  30 minute class
• Number of sessions each Saturday:  usually four, each lasting 30 minutes
• Time:  sessions start at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

In May 2013, the Kids Club at Michaels craft stores features a variety of projects. Some of the early projects feature Mother's Day gifts that any mom would be proud to receive from her little darling.

These projects include a "Thanks for Helping Me Grow" clay pot that kids can decorate and a Mother's Day heart necklace that kids make for mom.

Later in the month these projects are featured in the store:

• Celebrate Your Hero:  a certificate for kids to write about their hero and make a badge to embellish the certificate
• Craft Your Hero Doll:  a flat doll kids assemble and dress complete with cape!
• National Drawing Day:  a crown for kids to decorate then wear

~ Week 7:

Projects:  Clay pot whale, penguin tube, scratch paint whale and fish

- Wednesday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 12 noon - Antarctica

Projects:  iceberg, penguin, windsock

- Friday, August 2, 10 a.m. to 12 noon - Antarctica

Projects:  swirling snow, oil pastel whale, thermometer

Each month Michaels offers new Kids Club projects. The often have Kids Events flyers you can take home to remind you of which projects will be held each Saturday that month.

Michaels also offers classes like Wilton cake decorating for kids. If your child shows an interest in the culinary arts, this is a great way for them to gain new skills, techniques, and confidence in their abilities.

And just think of all the fun your whole family will have helping them eat the fruits of their labors!

Some current classes being held at Michaels include these fun and educational kids classes:

• Wilton Super Cakes for Kids
• Wilton Fondant Cupcakes for Kids

These classes are generally 2 hours long and for kids ages 8 to 12.
