Playskool Poppin' Park Eelefun Busy Ball Popper Review

This elephant-shaped toy is great fun for babies who are just learning to pick up objects and put them in containers – take the balls from the elephant’s tummy and drop them in his ears, they’ll then come flying out of his trunk accompanied by one of 10 fun musical tunes.

Once the balls have popped out of the elephant’s trunk they either roll into the belly, ready to be taken out again, roll across the room to be fetched (great for encouraging new crawlers) or fall back in the trunk, ready to be popped out again. The trunk is also moveable and can be positioned so that the balls fall towards the ears or further across the room for more active babies.

This is a very loud toy as there is no volume control for the music and the air-powered trunk sounds similar to a vacuum cleaner or hair dryer. If your child is sensitive to these kinds of noises, this toy might not be suitable for them. Having said that, most kids love the popping action of the toy once they have got used to the noise it makes. How long you can put up with the music is a different question! Luckily there is lots of play potential even when the toy is turned off as young children will still have fun putting balls in the ears and taking them out of the tummy.

There are 5 balls included with the toy and it runs from  4 D batteries. There is a little assembly required, but this is quite straightforward and the resulting toy is very sturdy, making it great for babies to practice pulling up on.

Toddlers love anything involving flying objects and I know my little girl is going to think this toy is hilarious. I can see it providing many hours of fun for her! It’s easy for kids to turn on and off by themselves using the button on the paw and the varying fan speeds means that it is unpredictable to know where the next ball is going to go, keeping it fun. It’s not the most educational toy in the world but great fun for babies and toddlers!
