Sterling silver dangle and charm rings

The most popular type of charm ring is the so-called "dangle" ring, which comes preloaded - some dangle rings have just the one charm, while others have several in a row! Most of the dangle charm rings you can buy consist of a simple band with one or more semi-circular loops at the top, one per charm. Or you may get two or more charms dangling off a single loop. With this sort of ring, the narrowness of the band - combined with the simplicity of the loop design - allow you to stack two or more rings together, if that's where your fancy lies!

If you've bought a dangle ring and want to add some more charms to it, by all means go for it! There are a couple of things worth bearing in mind, however. For one thing, you don't want the charm to be too large - up to half or maybe three quarters of an inch max is about right; any bigger and it will probably do you an injury every time it hits your hand! You also need to bear in mind the size of any charms that are already on the ring, and you will need to consider how you're going to attach any extra charms. Most charms that you buy come with some sort of attaching clasp/ring, whether a plain jump ring, a split ring or a lobster clasp. A lobster clasp is quite chunky/obvious, and therefore won't look right on a charm ring. It's probably best to buy a charm with an unsoldered jump ring or a split ring, and if the jump/split ring turns out to be too big, replace it with a smaller one. I have therefore listed some sterling silver split rings and jump rings in the capsule on the right, just in case you want to stock up. As with a lot of things in life, there is a trade-off between convenience and looks - the jump rings will look better (because they're less bulky than the split rings), but they will need more patience and a pair of pliers (or two pairs) when it comes to attaching the charm!
