Texas Gift Guide | What To Give People Who Love Texas

by CountrySunshine

Gift ideas for people who love Texas and all that this state represents! Music by Willie Nelson, Texas magazines, red-hot salsa, and the Texas flag.

Do you have someone on your gift list that loves Texas? Whether they are native Texans, displaced Texans, or wish they were Texans, here some gifts to honor this great state!

These aren’t the traditional “Texas Gifts” that the tourists seek on their visits. These are the items that true Texans want to own. Choose from flags, music, food and books; items every Texan craves!

Texas Flag

by Annin Flagmakers

Every Texan is proud to fly a Texas flag, and Annin makes the absolutely best flags around! I’ve flown Annin flags for many years, given them as gifts, and recommend them to everyone I know. The reason why? They are quality made, in the United States, by US citizens.

Annin’s Texas flags are extremely durable. They are made of polyester, so they’ll hold up in high wind conditions. They have reinforced grommets, which keeps them from tearing. Unlike the cheaper nylon flags that are found in the big box stores, this Texas flag is made to last!

Texas Magazines

There’s nothing better to remind a Texan of home than to read about Texas all year long. Two of the best magazines about this great state are Texas Highways and Texas Parks & Wildlife.

Texas Highways

Texas Highways is the official travel magazine of Texas. If you’re planning a visit to any destination in Texas, this is the magazine to read first.  It provides information on outdoor activities, travel tips, events, restaurants, hotels and much more. Beautiful photographs accompany the articles, so you’ll want to hang on to each issue for future reference.

Texas Parks & Wildlife

Every  issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife is packed with information on everything outdoors. From cycling to hunting, to parks and lakes, to fishing and bird watching – it’s all in this magazine. You’ll find great photographs, tips on the best gear, and travel information, all for the  state of Texas. TP&W Magazine is published by the Texas Parks &  Wildlife Department, so you know you’ll be receiving the best of the best in Texas!

Texas Music

No other artist portrays Texas like Willie Nelson! Born in Abbott, Texas, in 1933, Willie has gone on to become one of the greatest singers, songwriters, musicians and poets of all time.

Willie is also an activist, raising money for farmers through his Farm Aid and Live Aid concerts, in addition to becoming an advocate for horses and animals.

Native Texans, like myself, are proud that Willie calls Texas

While Willie Nelson has released over 200 albums throughout his career, Red Headed Stranger from 1975 is one of his best. It tells tales of country life, love, and loneliness; all part of the old West. These themes are those to which any true Texan can relate.

This album is full of Willie’s classics, such as “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”, “Time of the Preacher” and “Remember Me”. A combination of ballads, blues and country, Willie tells a story in every song, drawing you in with his voice & guitar.

Texas Salsa

Salsa is popular in Texas, and Jardine is one of the best brands. I send these gift boxes each Christmas to friends who live in Florida, and they tell me it is their favorite gift!

The Three Compadres gift set  contains 16 oz. jars of Salsa Bobos, Queso Loco, Peach Salsa

  • Salsa Bobos, which is a mixture of black beans, corn and jalepeno peppers
  • Queso Loco – Not actually a salsa, but instead, a cheese queso-like dip that is great on baked potatoes, broccoli, or with tortilla chips
  • Peach Salsa – A mixture of fresh peaches and jalapenos. While it may not sound good, it’s delicious!

Tip:- These salsas are great to serve at Texas-themed parties, as they will complement just about any food. Purchase an extra box for yourself, and you’ll always be prepared at party time!

Texas Barbecue

Texans love their barbecue, whether it’s barbecued ribs, brisket, pork, deer, chicken, quail or hot dogs. If it can be cooked, then it can be barbecued!

The Legends of Texas Barbecue is more than a cookbook. It traces the history of barbecue in Texas, and introduces the restaurants and cooks who make their BBQ famous.

It also teaches you how to select your barbecue grill, the best type of fuel to use, and which utensils are essential. The book then provides barbecue recipes for the different regions of Texas, which promises to satisfy every palate.A great “history of Texas BBQ” book, and even better cookbook!

My husband is a proud Texan, and I can tell you that one of the gifts you recommend is a real hit with those fro the Lone Star State. He once received a gift subscription to Texas Highways, and he loved it. He was excited to receive each new issue.
