Toys for Dogs that Like to Chew

by DrDarko

As a dog owner, you know that chewing, jumping and chasing are favorite dog activities. In order to avoid furniture damage, you should provide your pet with some chewing toys.

If bored and not stimulated enough, normal, healthy dog will find many things to do on his own.

In order to maintain stable physical and mental health, your pet needs exercise.

Unfortunately, chewing is one of the more expensive exercises, especially if performed on your favorite leather sofa.

You probably realized early on that your dog would chew on almost anything. What you might not realize is that dogs actually need a variety of textures to chew on.

Your sofa is not a good solution due to the danger of the dog tearing off large pieces and swallowing them. Those leather pieces can cause internal intestinal obstructions that can lead to death.

For this reason, you should always provide your dog with a variety of chewing toys like these:

Rope chew toys

Rope chew toys are great because they can easily be made into delicacies for your dog that likes to chew. Take rope toy, soak it in chicken or bone broth and freeze it. During hot summer days, rope toys treated this way will make a tasty, chilling treat for your dog.

Straight out of the bag, rope chew toys will clean your dog’s teeth and gums, clearing plaque and tartar as the dog chews on it. They are also great toys for playing tug games with your pet.

Nylabone Big Chews

Nylabone Big chews are great chew toys for dogs that like to chew. They are made of extra tough nylon that can stand up to even the most obsessive chewing dogs.

Great thing about these toys is that your dog will not be able to break off any large chunks so it will continue to be useful for several heavy chewing sessions.

Nylabone Puppy Chews

If you have small dog or a puppy, you should probably consider other, smaller Nylabone Chews.

These small chews offer the same quality as the bigger chews, only in a smaller package. If your puppy is an aggressive chewer, this is definitely your best solution. Not only will your dog love them, you will enjoy watching them flipped over in the air, pounced after and chewed for long stretches of time.

Kong Rubber Chew Toys

These toys are made from natural high-bounce, hard rubber and if your dog likes to chew, he will adore these toys. Fortunately, the material is easy to clean so you should love these toys too.

Your dog will probably chew up tennis balls, not to mention dirt and grass that will stick to the furry surface. Tennis balls and dogs usually end up well... icky. In my experience, Kong rubber chew toys last much longer and provide many hours of much cleaner fun.

One thing you should keep in mind. Always check out your dog's toys for damage. Some dogs will try to tear up or bite off large chunks out of toys so you have to watch for this and remove toys if they become damaged.

Good advice for dog owners. Puppies especially like to chew.

True. Since they need chewing exercise, the least we can do is provide our dogs with something nice and healthy.

This is just what my dog needs as he loves to chew on things, if I don't provide him with safe healthy chew toys he chews things he should not. Always looking for something new, thanks :)
