11 Amazing Quotes by Andy Warhol to Hang on Your Wall

by AbbyFitz

Warhol's art and thoughts about life are still fresh and relevant today. When combined together, they make a stunning piece of pop art for your home or office.

Are you a fan of Andy Warhol?

Up to a few months ago, I recognized the name, but didn't realize what exactly he was famous for.

Guess I've been living under a rock.

I'm not a huge fan of pop art, but after seeing a few of his silkscreened prints, I just feel like his art speaks to me on some level.

I may not be a pop art-type person, but I do love a good quote. Luckily for me, Warhol was a wordsmith. I find his words appealing because Andy Warhol had a killer sense of humor and insight into human behavior.

Luckily, I've found Billy Name, the artist who marries Andy's art and words together that creates a killer piece of artwork.

Hilarious facial expressions, combined with his quotes, brings Warhol to life on your wall.

Did you ever hear a phrase your whole life and never realized where it came from?

Every time an annoying reality tv star is suddenly catapulted into the spotlight, the media or critics are quick to throw out the "they're having their 15 minutes of fame" line.

Andy Warhol is actually the person who first said those words back in 1968, long before today's love affair with shows like Survivor, Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo, and the Bachelor.

I swear that man must have had a time machine, came to the 21st century, and watched every scummy reality show out there to come up with such a classic quote.

"In the Future, Everyone Will be World Famous for 15 Minutes"

Fifteen Minutes

These set of poster prints for sale from Allposters are really a self-portrait of sorts. They're actually photos that Andy took of himself in a photo booth in 1964.

The mixture of these candid images with his witty quotes is priceless. Warhol's facial expressions seem to back up his words and make them more real, like he's speaking straight to you.

"The World Fascinates Me"

I know that Andy Warhol had to be a curious person.

How else could one man be an artist, photographer, anchorman, fashion designer, filmmaker, an ad man, and a band manager?

And that's only the short list.

Being fascinated by the world makes you go out and try new things. Who wants to be stuck in a rut for 20 years?

I'm trying to live this quote by doing what I loved in school: writing. Writing has made me look at the little everyday things in life I would have normally ignored and think of them in a whole new way.

"Everybody Must Have a Fantasy"

Being fascinated by the world and having a fantasy to dream about goes together like macaroni and cheese.

Everyone should get excited about the world and have dreams, whether they're practical or not.

Andy Warhol had a difficult childhood. He was the son of immigrant parents, contracted a debilitating illness, and lost his father all before he was 13.

If he hadn't had a dream of being an art teacher, he probably wouldn't have become the legendary artist he eventually became.

What's your fantasy?

"I Wonder if it's Possible to have a Love Affair that Lasts Forever"

Love Affair

If you've been unlucky in love, you can really connect with this quote. I'm sure everyone on the planet has said this to themselves at one point in their lives.

I've had a few rotten boyfriends in my past. Stupid me, though, thought they were Mr. Right at the time. When it was all over, I was burying my troubles in junk food thinking the world was over and I'd never love again.

If you're one of the few who have had a successful long term relationship, hey, I'm proud of you. Unfortunately, for the rest of us, we're still wondering where the love is.

"The Idea of Waiting for Something Makes it More Exciting"

Do you remember the long Decembers when you were a kid?

You'd carefully check off the boxes after Thanksgiving, with each day building more and more excitement till you thought you'd die from anticipation.

The days leading up to Christmas were agonizing, but looking back, it was the best memories of your childhood.

Just like getting there is half the fun, waiting for something awesome is as good as what you're going to get.

"But I Always Say, One's Company, Two's a Crowd, and Three's a Party"

This is a great quote that can mean whatever you're feeling at the moment.

If you're feeling anti-social and want to be alone, it's the perfect way to tell your friends to kindly back off.

In other words, you're happy being by yourself, two people are too much, and three's a party you'd rather not attend.

However, if you're in the mood to be a social butterfly, it's like a come one, come all open invitation. If there's a group of people, you'll be there because there's never a good reason not to have fun.

"You Have to be Willing to Get Happy about Nothing"

I think this is one of my favorite Andy Warhol quotes. If you're looking for happiness in your life, there's no better words to live by.

Our society wants things now, and that includes happiness. We think money will make us happier if we could just make more of it. We think a sporty car will make us happier. We think the hottest technology gadget will make our lives complete.

We overlook the small things in life that really matter that will make our lives worthwhile.

I think if more people quit looking for happiness on the outside, and got happy by just observing life, we'd be a more content society.

"Think Rich, Look Poor"

Today everyone wants to have the best house, a designer purse, a luxurious vacation, or a new car. The problem is most of us can't afford any of it.

Every time I see this quote, it's like Andy is telling me to not blow money on yet another thing I don't really need.

In essence, work hard, save your money wisely, and spend it on things that have meaning in your life.

"There Should be a Course in First Grade on Love"

"I Think Everybody Should Like Everybody"

Everybody

Can you imagine a world where everybody was each other's best friend?

Instead of fighting over who's right and having our own social circles, we could focus on what's good in life: Each other.

If everyone taught their children to love others, no matter how different they are from themselves, in a generation our world would have no need of nuclear weapons, abuse hotlines, or homeless shelters.

It might not be mandatory curriculum in school, but we can all afford to be a role model to our kids and spread a little more love around.

"It Takes a lot of Work to Figure Out How to Look So Good"

Look So Good

The older I get, it seems the longer it takes for me to look halfway decent. I mean, I only have so much to work with here.

For others, it's not age that hinders them, it's personal style. They haven't experimented enough to figure out how to create a look that's uniquely them.

This would be a perfect piece to hang in a bathroom. I'd be sure to point it at it every time my husband complained I was taking too long to get ready.

"Being Good in Business is the Most Fascinating Kind of Art"

There's definitely an art to being successful in business. And if you've got that figured out, you've become a master at a difficult skill that everyone wants to learn.

I'd like to pick the brains of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or Donald Trump. Like Monet and Van Gogh are legendary masters of art, these men are the masters of successful business.

After all, it's not a straight shot to the top. It's an interesting meandering road to being good at business.

I've been reading more about Andy Warhol lately. I'm pinning this to my Catholic board because it fits. He was a devout Catholic.

Yes, it is very inspirational. He was really a genius with just about any medium he used.

Warhol was amazing artist who managed to achieve impressive effect with relatively simple tools. Some of his quotes are iconic. Great source of inspiration!

Thank you Kathleen!

He wrote some pretty good bits. Some of them are a few sentences long, so they don't work on a poster, but they're just as good. Thanks for this article. I enjoyed it!

I've only really encountered him via the Velvet Underground. But reading this, it seems that I'd seen more of his stuff through osmosis than I'd imagined.
