Katie thanks for reminding me of all the great Eagles songs. The interesting thing I also remember while reading your article, all the rumors having to do with playing Hotel California album backwards.
It rather makes me wonder if there really is a hidden message in the lyrics. Regardless I still enjoy the music, and would be interested in how many folks remember where and what they were doing the first time they heard the Eagles music, and what song made the biggest impression on them.

@Frugalrvers thanks :) I am actually envious of your RV lifestyle, I want to travel so bad I can taste it and I'd have no problems living in an RV, it would force me to leave the house, er RV, er, home? I've long dreamed of getting an RV and traveling to every state in the union just to see it, have a map with tacks where we've been-

I'm not into "trappings" of wealth really, I don't need fancy cars, a big house, or to prove anything to anyone about my status, I'm perfectly happy in my townhome, having all the loving pets around me, and family... to me THAT is wealth- being happy is real wealth, money just helps pay the bills and open doors to opportunities (like philanthropy)... I'm no stranger to poverty, I keep bouncing up and down like a biorhythm- dirt poor, moderately successful, VERY successful, then back down...

My main issue is I can't budget money to save my life- so I just hand the whole kit & kabootle to my fiance and she's a wiz... I always get what I need and there's food at the end of the month...

Even when money is good I don't take it for granted, I still try to be frugal (but not to the point of obsession or penny pinching) and don't blow money just because it's there (other than handing it out to family/friends who may be struggling)...

We learned by experience, because making pennies but having no debt now, while we live full time in a modest rv we paid cash for, has shown us how different it can be...we have much more cash on hand now, with only a fraction of the income we used to make, than we ever did living the "dream" when we had a large house and nice cars, etc. To measure wealth, you have to see if you can pay for everything every month out of your pay, then look at what is left...I do believe it is a very, very small percentage of people in America that pay cash for everything and/or have no debt, however.

You are right too, Jerrico. It is expensive to be poor. If you have to buy on credit, you pay more. If you don't have gas to drive to a big grocery store, you buy food at a nearby convenience store. If you can't store supplies, you don't buy in bulk. You buy one at a time for top dollar. Folks with plenty of money can save more of it.
My dream would be to pay cash for a house. That would be spectacular!
