My comment is by no means the (correct) translation, just short interpretation from me. You can search "LJN: BQ9251, Hoge Raad" and find the real source. It is alot of pages, including the preceding judgement of lower courts.

Another big reason for this judgement was because real-life assault for theft is not covered within the runescape-rules. For the law concerned, most is up to the game-makers. As long as it does not cross the line in real-life.

A good has a wider understanding/definition than money/money's worth/Real Live value. And anything can be a good, for example emotional attachment to a random pebble. Or you can steal non real stuff like electricity.

Prison isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination. Loss of liberty is a big one, but the least of some of their problems. However, until someone comes up with a better solution, then it's the best response that we have to keeping a dangerous person off the streets.
